If you like Jane Austin movies, BBC period movies...then you will love this movie. There are many story lines going on at the same time in the town of Cranford. There are many characters that you grow to love, and some that you love instantly. It is a 5 part series, that you wish would not end. It is clean, which I appreciate.
Spoiler alert: One of the story lines is a new Doctor coming to town to help the already established town Doctor. He is new, has new medical techniques and ideas. So there are many medical scenes. Where the movie is clean I would not recommend it for children under 10. There is a broken arm where you see the bone protruding, an amputation where you don't actually see it but you see the big saw and you ... Read More:

This movie hits home. Should Christians be involved in political issues? Yes! "Against slavery? Don't own any. Slavery is the Briton's right to choose. Keep your moral views to yourself...or you're violating the separation of church and state."---were someone to say that, one could well imagine Wilberforce's reaction.
Although this movie can be boring and hard to follow at times, it does capture the dilemma faced by Wilberforce: Should he just stick to personal piety, or get involved in the battle against current injustices?
He shows compassion even on a fallen horse getting beaten. The movie describes how the slaves were shackled in chains and transported across the ocean under horrible conditions. Those who survived ... Read More:

This is a great movie, and it doesn't dissapoint on blu ray. Tim Burton's cinematography is superb as usual, and Depp and Ricci do excellent jobs, as do the entire cast. This must have been a blast to work on this movie with all the talent involved. Buy it and watch it again for Halloween.

This is one of those things I vividly remember from childhood that I think all children should be exposed to. The fanciful stories aren't all puppy dogs and rainbows, and I think that's very important for kids to learn. No matter what the story was, there was always a positive note at the end to keep kid's imaginations and hopes alive. The creatures are still just as spooky as they were when I was a child, and the stories are still just as breathtaking as they were. The only difference is that now as an adult, I can truly appreciate the vocabulary.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was a great movie. Even the special features are subtitled which is great for deaf folks like me.
Release Date January 20, 2004
This is by far one of the top 10 of all western movies. I rank it with The Searchers, Shane, High Noon. A cinematic treat from somber start to the explosive yet tender end. Eat your heart out OK Corral. This is what is missing from so many modern movies. A story that is told without the F word every 5 seconds, no mindless sex, no graphic gore. Just an old fashioned western story about the struggle between right and wrong, good and bad, and the road to redemption. Keep it coming Mr. Costner.

This is a delightful story, well acted and produced by the BBC. It is much better than anything you will see on TV or in the movies. Treat yourself to this high class soap opera!

It is a shame that such great actors would lower themselves and play in a movie that was so bad. Don't waste your money.

I'm glad this DVD belongs to me for I will watch it many times. The music is lovely and Jeremy Northam and Clive Owen are easy on the eyes.
Julian Fellowes has an excellent commentary explaining the aristocracy and the servant class which made the story-line all the more understandable and therefore more enjoyable. Thank you, Julian Fellowes!
