As a fan of the original Dawn of the dead; I feel that the director and writer did a great job in staying true to the original. The entire idea of zombies that feed on human flesh is an excellent way to stir up apocalyptic thoughts. After all it is as Romero himself says, "One generation rising up to devour the previous one." In the end we just can not escape evolution. This was modernized quite well, and I think that the new "fast zombies" bring true meaning to the word horror! I can still remember my reaction to this version the first time I watched it. I was quite shocked at some of the upgrades from the original. Anyone who loves zombie flicks will love this!

I went to see this movie twice last year! it was sooooo good! I had a feeling that they were going have it come out on dvd around the holidays this year, which is good to watch wit the family for the holiday season! its alot of laughs and some tears! very good movie!

The play Othello is rest in modern times with the high school "prep" star "Odin" as Othello. His teammate and the coach's son has the Iago role of a scheming and evil "friend". He turns the main characters against each other
by "playing" them with lies and using a stolen handkerchief his girl friend obtains. The movie like the play was hard for me to watch. Half way through I realized it was Othello in modern drag and it became easier, since I knew it was a love gone wrong tragedy. The Shakespeare play has dialog by Iago that makes his motivations clearer than the nice bright high school boy gone wrong in this movie. The movie has basketball, drugs and guns added, but results are pretty much the same.

I love this movie! The cast is phenomenal. The writing is exceptional. And the plot is very moving. The theme of the movie is all about the family staying together through thick and thin. This is one of my absolute favorites!

Mekhi Phifer, Cicely Tyson and the Grant Wiggins characters are never to be repeated performances.

This film has it all, from injustice in Court to Protestant and Catholic prejudices resolved with a polite conversation.

"A Lesson Before Dying" has made it to the top of the charts in my film world. Take a look. You won't be disappointed.
