Mind bending, fun and creative in it's presentation to reveal the inner layers of ourselves. The whole concept of the film is plausible, exciting and new territory in our spiritual growth. This is a must see for all who are searching for more depth into their own behavior. Marlee Matlin gives a stellar performance depicting same life scenarios we all encounter in our lives each day. Awesome film, expands your thinking capabilities.

Great idea! Our little girl does not speak yet but communicates with the basic signs on this DVD. Just the right length - repeated playings can drive you nuts, but the benefits (especially at mealtime) outweigh a few frazzled nerves. I've recommended this DVD to several friends with toddlers.

I see a lot of potential when I think back over the film that was `Children of a Lesser God'. Now, I have not seen the play but I hear that it is much harsher, much more emotionally gut punching if you will. When I watched `Children of a Lesser God' I expected to get that, that warm feeling of unease in my core, the feeling that everything is not as it should be but instead I got a much softer and much more refined experience. I'm not saying that a sweet and effective love story is a bad thing, but aside from the major plot point regarding Sarah Norman's hearing disability the film is your generic love story with nothing really to distinguish it from every other love story out there.

Actually, it may have done it way before that. I don't like to give negative reviews but this movie is out of control. Somebody should have reigned these folks in, or, well, put a stop to it. Even on paper it just sounds insulting to the gay community and to AIDS victims. See, movies like Longtime Companion and Torch Song Trilogy were great and moving films. They also worked well because the casts were relatively unknown and were actually "acting", - playing roles. To create a big "party" of well known B (C or D) performers/actors just makes the entire premise silly and overbearing.
I guess the idea of Marlee Matlin and Margaret Cho came from someone who realized that each gay man has an asian girlfriend and a deaf girlfriend. I guess Cho is a good ... Read More:

This is a little known film directed by Alex Cox and well worth watching. I was Production Manager for the Tucson location. This film is filled with Anachronism's,i. e., all sorts of modern items creep into a film that supposedly took place in the 1800's. It is a sleeper and fun to watch.

Jeffrey Deaver is one of my favorite authors. "Dead Silence" is based on his novel, "A Maiden's Grave." The movie is reasonably true to the book, except for changing the title and leaving out the reason for the original title. I thought the casting was excellent. I enjoyed it very much and will keep it on my shelf.

Marlee Matlin has a number of films out and this is one drama that will keep you guessing until the end who is the real villan.

This movie is entertaining enough to hold your interest. I purchased it to show my students who are deaf, but to my dismay- there is no closed captioning! This is unacceptable! They make a movie with an actress who is deaf and then they don't caption the DVD for other individuals who are deaf to be able to access the content?! I was very disappointed- and very tired- after I had to interpret the entire film for my class. I hope the "powers that be" will remedy this soon.
Release Date July 24, 2006
Excellent movie featuring Marlee Matin. She is a fabulous actress. I think folks not familiar with the deaf culture might learn and have a better appreciation for the deaf community.
