It's hard for me to explain how much of an impact this film had on me. It is one of the most dreamlike experiences that I have ever had in a theatre. The first two hours of the film seem to follow a narrative -- and then there are the last 40 minutes, which will just blow you away if you have never seen this film before. After repeated viewings, I think that I have my own interpretation. The beauty of this film is that you can attach your own ideas to it, thus involving you in what goes down on the screen. It's laced with both horror and mystery, and filled to the brim with dream logic.
Totally captivating and beautiful to look at, this is a true work of art. The best time to view this film would be late in the evening, with the ... Read More:

Corrina, Corrina is a brave movie, exploring a topic that few dare to touch. It would be all too easy for Corrina to be the comedian who makes everyone cheer up just to disappear into the background, as many African-American "maid" characters end up doing. Instead, she becomes the love interest, the ultimate female character, who has her own dreams, problems, complexities, and validity. I have loved this movie since I was a child, and recently watched it again to find that I still love it. It is extremely well-written, clever, and sad--yet hysterical, and it challenges all stereotypes, racial, temporal, and sexual, in a way that is extremely rare. Everyone should see it.

I had never heard of this movie but ran across it while looking for something to rent. I had high hopes for this movie based purely on Flex being in this movie. I have never seen him in anything not worth while. True to form this movie delivered for me. I enjoyed the story. The movie is full of great actors and actresses. The hilarious Tasha Smith, Essence Atkins and of course Tangi Miller. I really liked this movie a lot. I didn't give it five stars because it did not discuss certain issues that I thought the movie should have detailed. The issue was apparently resolved but I would have appreciated a discussion resolving the issues. I liked the movie so much that I am now buying the movie after I've already rented and watched it.

What Major League was to baseball, Necessary Roughness is to football. This has to be one of the most underrated comedies. This stars Scott Backula (Quantum Leap, Enterprise), Sinbad, Jason Bateman, Hector Elizondo, Fred Thompson (The senator and from Die Hard 2),Kathy Ireland, Larry Miller (10 Things I Hate About You), and Robert Loggia.
The movie follows a Texas University football team. The program use to be one of the best until they were caught doing some illegal things (illegal recruiting, free passes on grades ect). The whole team except one or two get kicked off the team. Hector Elizondo was asked to rebuild and from the new recruits, it looked like it was going to be a long football season. although no one was complaining when the coaches (Robert ... Read More:

Most people who rent this movie who feel they may be able to relate to the story will be much satisfied. The film does well depict some of the struggles that are created between a family when even one person between them suffers from a mental illness. I don't feel we go deep into any of the characters but rather get a touch of what it's like for all the family.
I didn't expect this movie to accurately portray a schizophrenic, but I was hoping it would have. I've seen my share of schizophrenics, so it was hard not to see the difference between my experiences and what I saw on screen.
Overall, it was just "OK" for me. Worth watching, but not twice.

For me, the whole "Bitches Brew" period was a necessary step in where "jazz" had to go. The other "free" players had not caught up with the electric / electronic developments that the rock players were mastering (at least a few did; like Hendrix). Miles brought them together; blurring lines and violating the boundaries in service of a greater vision.
While there may have been a few moments during "Bitches Brew" that may have meandered a bit, the whole point of that recording was that it was a big risk. A gamble by walking into musical territory that had not yet been created. But while the recordings were great, that situation works best when it is performed live.
The Isle or Wight performance exemplified this marvelously. All the musicians walked ... Read More:
