We so enjoyed the Netflix DVD that we ordered 3 more from Amazon which we gave as gifts. Our friends we chose to receive this DVD were as pleased as we were. Now I proceed to order more as there are more people we would like to give a copy to.

I was disappointed by this poorly made documentary. It consists mainly of talking heads that tend to repeat themselves. There is very little footage of Leonard Cohen and the obvious filler bits are irritating. 'I'm Your Man' and 'Ladies and Gentleman' are more worthwhile purchases.

I ordered the DVD for my wife, as she is the big Leonard Cohen fan, but I enjoyed it myself. Leonard Cohen is a fascinating individual. He should not be compared to Bob Dylan which is what a lot people want to do. Dylan is Dylan, and Cohen is Cohen. I suppose we all do that though, referencing the new by some old we are familiar with.
The DVD copy I had received was not a good copy. The first 5 minutes does not play properly. My wife has wondered about returning it, but I am reluctant to have to pay any shipping charges to do that, and wonder whether it would be productive. Would a replacement DVD have the same problem?

The UK's answer to "King Kong", KONGA! (1961) stars Michael Gough as Dr. Charles Decker, an eccentric professor who injects a baby chimp with powerful growth hormones and later uses it as a trained assassin to kill his enemies.
Margo Johns enlivens the proceedings and adds glamour, playing Decker's frustrated assistant/housekeeper Margaret. Michael Gough, a serial scene-stealer, lives up to his reputation here. On the down-side, blonde starlet Claire Gordon is a very bland ingenue; the audience doesn't really care about her character by the time she gets her arm caught in a Venus Flytrap.
The special effects (filmed in the 35mm "Specta-Mation" process) are well done for the most part, with lots of cool miniature work. While ... Read More:

MGM continues to release some great titles in these Double Feature DVDs. KONGA, a goofy-but-entertaining one, has been released previously, so the real reason to get this is for the nice widescreen print of YONGARY, which was for many years the only South Korean monster film to be seen in the USA. Of course, comparisons to Godzilla and/or Gamera are all but inevitable, but the film stands on its own as a favorite Saturday afternoon Creature Feature. Video quality of both titles is fine, and YONGARY includes a scene I had not seen before: planes and military vehicles are sliced in half by Yongary's death ray...I guess he learned that trick from Gyaos. If you're a kaiju fan, this one's a must!

For years, I've been studying books on the afterlife, and this video has the best information. I'm impressed by the accuracy of the Buddhist teachings. This may be because Tibet is the *highest* region in the world with an average elevation of 16,000FT =)
According to the NDE Research Foundation, 15+ million people today have experienced NDEs and yet Buddhism described this 1,000+ years ago, long before any advanced medication or worldwide communication was available.
Ketamine was not invented until the 1960s, and this is the #1 reason why Atheists today like David Mills and Marshall Brain deny the reality of an afterlife. How could Ketamine be responsible for NDEs that occurred 1,000s of years ago? The afterlife was described by ... Read More:

This DVD would have been ok if I'd bought it for $5, but unfortunately, the four artists I bought if for - namely, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Buffy Sainte Marie - all together hardly made up five minutes of the video. Apart from that - the video starts badly, but picks up as it goes along. There are a few interesting moments, but the balance of time allotted to each artist seems totally askew. There's about 15 minutes devoted to each of the first artists covered, which makes the one minute mini coverage of others an absolute crashing disappointment, and perhaps colours my opinion of the merits of this DVD. I had assumed that Leonard Cohen would be 'the main man' due to the title, which comes from one of Cohen's songs. Just goes to ... Read More:

As I think is, or will be, obvious, to all viewers, we need more of Cohen performing (though his interpretations and song-stories are spellbinding). Still, much of these are "Who's That?" covers of Cohen's holy writ. We are in good company a great deal of the time--there's St. Leonard himself, Bono, the Edge (who dispels any chance of ever playing guitar on stage w/o nerves Thank God almighty that Rufus Wainwright was there to inject the exact amount of sincerity and unhinged spontentaeity in his perfectly delerious reinterpretation of "Everybody Knows". He also does a much more subdued rendition of Cohen's "Hallellujah", which Cohen is very much in favor of--"That's how it's to sound--yes!" he seemed to exclaim, or something to that effect, in his fashion, ...
