I love musicals. But I am very picky about which ones I watch, and which ones I buy for repeat performances. MAMA MIA was the first musical that multiple generations can appreciate. For the first time, I wasn't the young pup represented in most musicals, but the mother experiencing love lost, found again, and letting go of your children. I found myself amazed with Meryl Streep's voice, cheering on Pierce Brosnan's (and yes, sometimes he hit a sour note, but when your boyfriend is singing to you something really sweet...who cares?)and laughing at how the screenplay writers incorporated particular tunes (Chickadita! Young Billy Elliot (Jamie Bell) defies macho convention as well as his close-minded father (Gary Lewis) and older brother (Jamie Draven) to pursue his love of dancing in a small English mining town during a strike.

This delightful film just made me happy with its cheerful T-Rex-heavy soundtrack, exuberant performances, and quirky characters. It's pretty clear how everything is going to turn out at the end, and some of the changes of heart undergone by certain character may not be entirely convincing, but this remains a sunny, upbeat film. Despite the language, which earns it an R rating, it also presents a positive message for young people about being willing to think outside boundaries and resist stereotypes.

This movie is excellent.

There is so much material in the book that folks should not be suprised that the movie does not have everything in it. I was happy that so much managed to get in to this movie. However, in cutting much out, sometimes you must add a smaller, shorter, piece of business to cushion the change.

I am happy to see as good a movie as this is.

This Harry Potter movie is excellent. Actually, it was better than I expected.

Yes, the movie has cut many, many, small things from the book. But, this is inevitable. If everything from the book went into the movie, you would have a five or six hour movie.

I recommend this movie.
