It's nearly 30 years since Caligula was released onto an expectant, or is it more correct to say an unexpectant, global cinema audience. And they were not to be disappointed. Stage and cinema royalty including Sir Peter O'Toole, Sir John Gielgud and Dame Helen Mirren (only Gielgud was knighted at the time) joined Malcolm McDowell and a collection of Italian and European actors in an orgy of violence and sex which included graphic XXX pornography taken directly from the pages of Seutonius' chapter on Caligula in the second century book The Twelve Caesars.
This marvellous 3 disc DVD set contains fascinating documentaries featuring extensive interviews with producer Bob Guccione and writer Gore Vidal shot at the time of production. The full ... Read More:

This movie is one that our teenagers like also. In this day and age that is hard to find. We like the fact that it does seem to be very real. Our oldest daughter asked about the movie when they were studing WWII Germany in World History. So I had borrowed this movie from my Mother. Once they saw it they decided that we had to own it as well.

I had not seen this movie since it first came out and it is still a superb movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone. As a child, I can recall news articles about Gandih. But like most of us, as a child things going on around you don't actually sink in. But this movie re-awakened a very important part of world history for me.

If you love historical movies, then this movie is one to see. Cate Blanchett was made for this movie. Watching it, I almost thought that Cate is actually Queen Elizabeth, and not portraying the role of queen Elizabeth. However, I suggest that if you want to follow Queen Elizabeth's birth and rise to her status as queen, then I recommend the following purchases to compliment this GREAT movie. First, "The Other Boleyn Girl" which depicts Elizabeth's birth and the beheading of her mother, whom wanted to sleep with her brother (Elizabeth's uncle) in the hopes of producing a baby boy to replace the infant son she miscarried for her husband, the King of England. Secondly, "Elizabeth" which begins with Elizabeth as a young girl whom loves to dance with her friend ... Read More:

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is an impressive movie. Well-acted, beautifully shot and lit, and with a sharp tongued script and stunning sets, it is a masterpiece, much like the genius book by Agatha Christie is considered today.
The story follows detective Hercule Poirot (a heavily accented Albert Finney) as he has to solve the murder of Mr. Ratchett (Richard Widmark) on the infamous Orient Express. Among the suspects are: loquacious Mrs. Hubbard (Lauren Bacall), Bible-toting Swede Greta Ohlsson (Ingrid Bergman), Colonel Arbuthnot (Sean Connery), his lover Miss Debenham (Vanessa Redgrave), and conductor Pierre Michel (Jean-Pierre Michel). Along for the ride are a Dr. Constantine and Poirot's old friend Bianchi (Marin Balsam). Each of the 12 passengers ... Read More:

Marlin Brando as Antony unquestionably dominates this production of Julius Caesar. Although James Mason as Brutus, is equally strong and has more lines, Brando's Hollywood aura shines more brightly. Directed by Joseph Mankiewicz, Mason and Brando together nearly succeed in making the jump from a traditional, theatrical presentation on film of Shakespeare to a movie with the values expected by today's audiences. Examples of recent successes are Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet and Trevor Nunn's "Antony and Cleopatra."
John Gielgud as Cassius, brooding mastermind of the plot to assassinate Caesar, illustrates perfectly the difference. Gielgud's every syllable, down to his slightly rolled letter "r"s, and his nuanced facial expressions and gestures, exhibit theatrical perfection. ... Read More:

4 1/2 stars would be more accurate. While many comedies revolve around the cruel ridicule of certain parties, this is a MAJOR exception. We meet the millionaire Dudley Moore who seems to be a heavy drinker. But is he a drinker by nature? Perhaps not. Dudley's father is forcing him to marry a girl (Susan) he doesn't love under threats of disinheriting him. Later, Dudley meets the poor (but really likable) Linda. While Dudley Moore (Arthur) seems to know that there are some things that money can not buy, he is realizing that he may seem to know real love. In his small role, Linda's father is really memorable in the way how he goes from being suspicious of Linda's dating life to cheering it on. But is he really greedy for money? Perhaps he doesn't want to think of his daughter being destitute ... Read More:
