I could see why some people wouldn't appreciate this film. If you wrote the plot down on a piece of paper, this film would look pretty dull. Girl witch leaves home, she meets some people, makes some deliveries, etc. So, I perfectly understand why some may find it boring. The story of Kiki's Delivery Service is really more character-driven than plot-driven. I feel the movie really excels in this department. The characters are very likeable/endearing. I fully enjoyed seeing Kiki come into her own as she gained some confidence in a new place. Overall, this is just a simple, sweet film about growing up, and I think "Kiki's Delivery Service" really succeeds in being this. Now and Then is a coming-of-age tale following the lives of four pre-teen girls. This film mostly takes place in the past rather than the present, this film should've been called Then and Now. Christina Ricci and Gaby Hoffman have the best character development and depth. Demi Moore is the only adult character that seems affected by past hurts and trials from her childhood. Melanie Griffith continues to play the bimbo, she is so much smarter than that! Good film but not a home run.

I think that `Reality Bites' has been unfairly labeled as thin and hollow. I actually feel as though the film tackles its issues with grace and delicacy, handling the subject in a way that feels complete when the credits begin to roll. The film was never meant to be a weighty message type film but more a relaxed look at real concerns of the youths of the 90's (or `Generation X'). For what it sets out to do, I think `Reality Bites' works very well. When you couple the finely crafted script with the exceptional cast and Ben Stiller's surprisingly attune direction you have a very entertaining and satisfying cinematic experience.

Normally, I'm not a crier, but this movie made me bawl. It's an incredibly moving story about the aftereffects the Matthew Shepard murder had on the town of Laramie, Wyoming. The film is pieced together very well and the acting is phenomenal. This is a story that needs to be heard, and I suggest every see it at least once.

This film, the second from "Donnie Darko" director Richard Kelly, is definitely not for everyone. The story is a bit convoluted, but becomes so much clearer when experienced in combination with the prequel graphic novels. This apocalyptic-action-thriller-drama is a very dark comedy with a lot of excellent commentary on the state of us right now. Taken to an extreme? Yes. Worth it? Very.

I decided to watch this the other night, despite its reputation as a really bad film. Well, my low expectations were met. It's an OK concept (rejected superheroes team up to gain self respect), but the execution of the film is all wrong. It might have been better (though not by much) as a sketch, not a full length feature film (and it's a relatively long film at 2 hours). It has a great cast (William H. Macy, Greg Kinnear, Geoffrey Rush, Janeane Garofalo, Hank Azaria), but here they try way too hard to make this film "hip" and "cool", and they fail, simply because the source material is tired and lame.
