I like this as a classic musical. The songs fit well with the dialogue and story. The costumes are incredible. This has always been a favorite remake of Pygmalion set to music.

The reviewer who claims that this film was originally made in 4:3 format is quite wrong. Perhaps he means the original video, which was certainly cut to fit a standard TV. But this good DVD is correctly formatted, and nothing has been cut off from the top or bottom.

That having been said, this is a very comprehensive set. The 36' documentary with reminiscences of the film's crew is fun and enlightening. One comes away with the feeling, as if we couldn't guess from the film itself, that spirits were high (pardon the expression) and everyone felt this would be something special.

I have enjoyed The Ghost and Mrs. Muir for many years. I never tire of watching. It transports me back to a more gentle time. I use George Sanders character's traits in one of my books. A good cup of hot tea and a quiet time of viewing this movie is an excellant way to spend an afternoon. I now own this DVD so I can watch anytime I choose which is a luxury.

The movie does the story justice, the actors seem born to their roles.

I love this story, and our family finds a reason to watch this movie every year. And what a joyous feast we have after we view it.

If you really want to know what went on between these two rent or buy HBO's excellent "Rome" series.

Their rendition of Cleo is a short,plain, 32A-cup, homely little drug addict with a realllly bad haircut! That she captures the lust of both Caesar and Marc even though no one might look at her even once on the street is testimony to how "hot" she must be in bed.

Contrast this to Liz Taylor who is as white as snow, aging and fairly fat (OK voluptuous to those in the same weight catagory.) Not only was the obvious display of cleavage distracting but I couldn't get over the eye makeup! This movie grew on me. At first, the nonacting and dirt-cheap just-shoot-the-movie production values annoyed me but then I got into it. Two-Lane Blacktop has a sort of grubby charm to it. A very idiosyncratic road movie. For actors, James Taylor and Dennis Wilson make great musicians and Laurie Bird, as the girl, seems to exist as little more than a sketched plot device. Someone for the guys to interact with and fight over. Warren Oates seems to be the "talent" here. Most road movies are freespirited romps populated by horny teens and/or besotted, drugged out freaks. Here, the characters are decidedly dour. They eat, sleep and drive, drive, and drive. They don't explain themselves, they just are, man.
