I WAS SORT OF DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CUTS THAT MADE THE DVD AS THERE WAS NO JEFF BECK. J.J. CALE DIDN'T NEED TO BE THERE SO MUCH EITHER. I THINK ERIC SHOULD LET SOMEONE ELSE PUT ON THIS SHOW AS HIS CHOICES OF MUSICIANS WERE SOMEWHAT QUESTIONABLE. SHERYL CROW? CROSSROADS GUITAR FEST MEANS GUITAR PLAYERS. THE BUDDY GUY SET WAS DAM GOOD. I WOULD MAYBE RENT THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY IT AS I WAS MOSTLY DISAPPOINTED WITH IT. THAT GUITAR CLAPTON PLAYS IS ONE OF THE MOST CHEESIEST LOOKING GUITARS I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE NEXT TIME, ERIC, RELEASE THE WHOLE SHOW, JUST NOT YOUR INFLUENCES. AND IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER GUITAR FESTIVAL, INVITE SOME GUNSLINGERS, NOT A BUNCH OF WORN OUT BLUES PLAYERS.

I can't say this 2 DVD set blew me away. There are some OK performances but 98% of them are just OK. I bought this (used I might add-cheap!)coming in as a guitar fan and mostly as a fan of Eric Johnson and Pat Metheny - although I do love 95% of the other great names on this disc. Most of the artist's cuts here are just OK. However.........................

I will keep this disc as Robert Cray plays the performance of a lifetime with TIME MAKES TWO. After reading most of the reviews (there were 158 at the time) only 2 people mention fact to this! Are you not listening people? Mr. Cray simply turns in the greatest of blues performances - he sings and plays his @ss off and lets each member of the audience (even the DVD audience)know that ... I don't know how Tom Dowd's identity and influence escaped me for so many years. His influences as engineer, producer and omnipresent encourager of creative greatness were all over the music and albums that were like oxygen to me during the 60's and 70's. And I read every word about every person and player on every album cover like they were scripture. It really speaks to Mr. Dowd's dedication to putting the music first that his undeniable influence is so hard to find an acknowledgment for.
