'Remember that Night' might be billed as David Gilmour, but it comes off better than the Pulse DVD which is actually Pink Floyd - in name anyway if not in total execution (Roger Waters absence will always make it seem less than authentic and legitimate). Gilmour and fellow Floyd Richard Wright do very spirited versions of the old classics, and there's "Fat Old Sun" which Pink Floyd hasn't done since Atom Heart Mother days, a very welcome deep cut and great version. Being that it's Gilmour and not Floyd, there isn't nearly the spectacle and stage-show that Pink Floyd is associated with - so hearing the old Floyd numbers in what is a solo Gilmour context with Wright, and other Floyd-related musicians is a treat. Would be nice if Gilmour did ... Read More:

Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii - Great, great, great, great!!!! This DVD contains the "Director's Cut" as well as the original concert film. Basically the Director's cut features lots of extra visuals, including computer graphic recreations of Pompeii, the exploding Vesuvius, and other things like NASA shots of rockets going up into space, space walks, images of suns and stars and moons and planets, all the usual things you'd expect of someone depicting a "space rock" band. It also has some extra bits from the studio in Paris when they were recording "Dark Side of the Moon." The Directors Cut starts out with space and planets animated instead of the big zoom-in to the arena in Pompeei of the original film. Not really an improvement, although it's ... Read More:

Any one who loved the "Dark Side of the Moon" should see this. Especially for all you musicians and recording engineers. I bought the album when it was first released on vinyl and wore it out, and bought it again. And bought it again years later on CD. This DVD is a must see for all true Floyd fans.

The beginning of the DVD I first thought a little odd, it seemed like Gilmour was doing a sound check. But it quickly turned into Shine On You Crazy Diamond. He performed many of the classic Pink Floyd tunes and even though I was skeptical that I would like a lot of them played on an acoustic guitar, I enjoyed the whole show tremendously.
Unlike when Clapton turned Layla into an acoustic version that had little resemblance to the legendary version, Gilmour's acoustic interpretation is very similar to the recorded versions. He does pickup an electric guitar -- a Gretsch -- from time to time and it's every bit as good as it used to be.
David's voice isn't quite what it used to be, but he's not as young either like a lot of us fans. I ... Read More:

Is really exciting to see McCartney live with a really basic band configuration! But don't get me wrong, the band is great, with David Gilmour and Ian Paice in the back!
Release Date January 08, 2008
Short of Jimi Hendrix, the greatest of all times, David Gilmour is one of the greater guitar players as well. His style and mastery is legendary, and this review spans it well.

This show has only been released on CD and VHS and LaserDisc...but NOT DVD. This is an unofficial product, probably made by the guy who gave it 5 stars.
