Let me preface this review by saying that I have never read the book that this was based on, and I don't really care to. I've heard the book's very different and I think it would ruin my enjoyment of this fantastic film.
Okay, I love this movie, it may be my favorite Miyazaki movie of all time (though The Cat Returns comes pretty close). There's just something magical in this fantasy tale that really draws me in. First off, some people complain that this movie made no sense, but I really enjoy Miyazaki's narrative style; he doesn't spell things out for you plot point by plot point (the story is not very hard to understand anyway, I don't understand people's confusion). A rarity in this type of film, it has a brain and it isn't too sappy! Crystal and Ryan are great in this smart and funny romance flick! This is definitely one romantic comedy that both men and women can enjoy. The DVD transfer in very good.

I'm so glad that this modern day western classic is finally getting the treatment it deserves,after all it's one of the greatest films of the 90's and the now late Jack Palance won the little golden statue for his stellar performance(doing cartwheels on the stage to accept his award if I remember right). Just a great comedy all around with a great widescreen transfer and some "slick" extras!!! A true step up from the original bare bones(had a trailer only) release from a few years back. An awesome DVD re-release done right this time by MGM!!! Two thumbs up! A+
