Yet it compels me to write as there are very few examples of Arthur Fiedler conducting another orchestra outside of Boston. In 1970, he became the very first world class musician I ever heard with the Washington National Symphony. And he was on fire that afternoon. Listening to the samples, this is born out with sharp, clear, focused playing by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Dame Moura Lympany is also at her best in the Liszt Piano Concerto No.1, contributing more than the usual virtuoso performance. Oh how I would love to hear this cd just once! |
