- Good, Not Great, Average
Okay first off she's not the next Mariah Carey... She's more like Christina Aguilera who has a beautiful voice but over singing all the time and songs that if you think Mariah's songs are forgettable, you seen nothing yet! Leona Lewis has a good 13 track single of her one hit on this album "Bleeding Love" Spirit is a great title but where's the SPIRIT? I didn't hear it, worst track is "The First Time Ever Saw Your Face" She sound's like she's about to go to sleep and take you with her. I bought this album hoping it would be as good as Jordin Sparks album but was dispointed. That's just my opinion some people love this low type of music. But I'm a more up tempo even on ballads.

Leona Lewis gets *** for her Spirit

- Impressive Debut from a Brit with great teeth!
Leona Lewis seems to suffering a little from obvious & predictable comparisions with Ms Carey, she's almost getting a double whammy as Maria fans react against any challenge to her Divaship and anti-Maria critics see her as a souless clone.
That's sad on a number of fronts, firstly from all the interviews and appearances I've seen of her she's very down to earth, modest and engagingly sweet. Secondly and most important - she sure can sing, this is one impressive debut CD. What it perhaps lacks in innovation is more than compensated by the quality of several appealing tunes.
The obvious stand out "Bleeding Love" (written by One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney - yes the soap star not a Beatle offspring) is one of the most infectious songs of the year and the surefire hit. Leona delivers this flawlessly and her live performances of this are just as good as the recording which is always an unexpected treat.
My personal favorites (Bleeding Love aside) are Better in Time (next single?), Footprints (great vocal), Yesterday and Take A Bow, but buy this for yourself and pick your own you should not be disappointed.
This girl is just getting started and we should hear a lot more from her.

- Fantastic Album - Fantastic Singer
This girl is amazing. Her voice is pitch perfect and her album is great. I have listenend to it over and over again and never tire of hearing it. Mariah Carey and Leona Lewis are as good as each other and no direct comparison should be drawn. They both have their fan base.
The X Factor found a girl with a fantastic voice who was working as a receptionst. What is wrong with this kind of show finding such talent as Leona.
I only wish I could sing as well and I would not worry about how I was discovered.
America Idol is discovering great talent and without it how would these people shine through in such a large country as the US.
Well done Leona you are worth listening too and worth watching in the future.

There's really not much to say about this album. Leona Lewis is a very talented singer. Much more so than a lot of the female artists that are out there. Sadly, this album comes up short of her potential. "Bleeding Love" is a great song, but a rarity in the album as it's the only song that evokes any kind of feeling. The rest of the album shows great vocal prowess, but the songs are bland and uninspired. It's like the producers took her voice and built empty, generic songs around it. It's music simply for the sake of making a record. I suppose this is how some great singles are made, but an album needs something more.
I'll keep my eye on Ms. Lewis because she can definitely get very far. This album just doesn't do it for me.

Leona Lewis is the reason we have reality shows. Winning X-Factor in the U.K, and being the first woman to win is simply awesome. Leona Lewis has such an amazing voice she makes you believe the lyrics she's singing. With the first three singles, Bleeding Love, Better In Time, and Footprints In The Sand out in stores Leona Lewis is going to have a long career ahead of her. Here's to hoping for many of years to come of Leona Lewis. Unfortunately the U.S doesn't like new artists especially if they're not American but lets keep our fingers crossed that we can keep allowing Leona Lewis to release albums here in the U.S.
