- Amazing Album
This album is amazing- Bon Iver's music is a fantastic combination of acoustic blends and layers upon layers of warm harmonies. He sings with such passion that you want to listen to the entire album over and over again. I highly recommend this album.

I think this albums is just awesome from start to end. It took me about two listens before I was fully in love, but Re: Stacks and Skinny Love were instant hits with me. Obviously, if you only like upbeat music this isn't for you. Most of the songs feature little more than simple percussion and acoustic guitar. The sparsity of instrumentals means you really need to be into the singing style, which despite some other reviewers, I think is unique and awesome. Usually I don't like a chorus of one person tracked on top of itself, but I think he pulls it off pretty well.

After reading the reviews, the expectations were so high I didn't know where to start. So instead of listening to the album all the way through, I put the whole thing on my mp3 player and put all my songs on shuffle. This way I have been getting to know the album slowly throughout the last few weeks. Every time a Bon Iver song comes on I literally stop and say "Wow! What's this?" Though I've come to love each track respectively, 'Skinny Love' has quickly become my favorite song. Ease it in to your collection. You won't be sorry.

I was first introduced to bon ivers live recordings such as; skinny love and flume. I was caught off guard to begin with considering how raw and incomparable his voice was to any other. I instantly had to check out the album. Also hearing he recorded it, hidden away in a log cabin got me that much more excited. "Sound interesting.. I assume he will still have that rawness." However I was wrong and very dissapointed as it is too commercial friendly for me. This work just became tedious.
Aside from that he really is a talented artist that I would love to see perform. Hes wonderful to watch and it is clear to see he is dominate.

As many good artists are discovered and shared, I was introduced to Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) through a mixtape containing two of the more popular tracks from the album: Skinny Love and Blindsided. I picked up a copy of the LP and headed to a show a month or two later.
I will admit, the very first time I heard him sing; I was a little thrown off by his style and use of falsetto. However, that was one of the most magnificent live performances I have ever witnessed and I've seen everyone from Lou Reed to the Locust. The music is incredibly driven and soulful. I've heard the claims (and this kind of back and forth riff-raff occurs with every up and coming 'indie' artist) that it's just overrated fake-folk. Maybe it's fake-folk and maybe it's not, but genre titles just aren't enough to put down some of the great thing s that are going on in the 'indie' world right now, in this case with Bon Iver.
I can't make too many, 'If you like...then you will like Bon Iver" type statements. Many albums are as enjoyable as you want them to be. If you are at all familiar with Jagjaguwar Records or just picked up the new Fleet Foxes album or maybe your girlfriend/boyfriend made you a mixtape and you want to hear more of this sort bare bones acoustic masterpiece, then check out this CD. If you have the capability, buy the LP (comes with free download). You may be sorry, and, if so, you can whine like the others, but I'm pretty sure you'll dig it!
