- Half of the songs are great, half are mopey.
I have always been a die-hard Counting Crows fan, so I had to buy this cd even though my expectations were kind of low. It is worth buying, but nothing beats their first few cds.

"SATURDAY NIGHTS & SUNDAY MORNINGS" is an amazing collection of richly varied soulful & fascinating songs featuring kaleidoscopic arrangements that cook with involved soulful lead vocals from Adam Duritz...something of a fluke & rarity in these barren musically bleak times with not much around with such conviction and drive as this stunning set. Great musical sixties legendary rock & soulful sounds spoiled many of us music loving baby-boomers who find current groups dull and as a result could have missed this engrossing work but recent Crow live spots on the tube have been compelling and riveting leading to the seeking out this latest winner...best way to enjoy & appreciate this great musical treasure chest of a wondrous mixture of mesmerizing classics is to just sit down with lyrics and go for this decades amazing & magical musical ride...awesome collection from the best around today is a solid rock & soul classic...Bravo Counting Crows!!!

from early Crows.Very good ones.This is probably my favorite Crows album now.Well worth the wait.Along with "August..." and "Recovering..." being my other faves.1492,Los Angeles,Sundays,Insignificant,Anyone But You and You Can't Count On Me highlight this strong soft rock effort.So if you are a more than casual, Crows fan and wondering ,what should I do???...Go get it!!! It will be well worth the money.Just a very fine mix of soft melodic tunes.A 4.6 rating for this stong soft rock effort.

I am a big Crows fan so this may not be all that objective. I think some of the tracks on this CD are their best work yet. Adam is probably the best singer / songwriter of my lifetime. The lyrics are really deep. Thus you are not just getting some ear candy here. I think this album is worth the investment.
