Decent. not their best album, but listen to it a few times and it will grow on you.

- One of the Roots' Better Albums
After two lackluster albums and a move to Def Jam, I started to fear that one of my favorite acts in hip hop was falling off. Thank God for Game Theory. The album, while it does have a different feel compared to some of their previous works, is still 100% good old Roots. The whole thing just moves smoothly from one song to the next, and the J Dilla tribute at the end was a nice finish. I would actually place Game Theory as my 3rd favorite Roots albums, right behind Things Fall Apart and Illadelph Halflife.

I personaly enjoyed Phrenology and Tipping Point more than Game Theory. There's something missing on this album...Black Thought sounds lazy & uninspired...on the other hand is good to listen Malik again...But overall I thought they could do something better...it's not wack but based on their previous albuns, Game Theory is one of their weakest cd's to date.
Rating: - 4.5 Stars - Best Roots Album since Things Fall Apart...
The first track sounds sympathetic and hopefull. The rest of the tracks are paranoid, dark, and angry. Put those two together and there you have the bottom line. Listen to the album from start to end and see if you can figure it out. Its pretty genius- great album as a whole.

I really enjoyed listening to this album from the minute I put it in. The songs are great because they have a message and they have real musical quality to them. What I mean to say by that is that there are actual melodies to the songs as opposed to just beats, which makes this album so much more than just another hip-hop album. It has definitely become one of my favorite albums in the month that I have owned it. On the downside, sometimes the songs drag on just a bit. Overall though, this album is really great.
