- radiohead....please
ok people, since this album sounds so much like radiohead i would like someone to give me a muse song, and then a radiohead song that sounds anything like it and post them below this review because i just dont see it, muse is a much much better band and have better melody than radiohead and more powerful music with a more beautiful voice, buy this album listen to it once, if you dont like the first listen which most will, then listen to it again the next day and i guarantee that it will grow on you. buy this cd

I discovered Muse first, and heard all of the talk of them sounding like radiohead.. So I went back and listened to every radiohead album. Sorry, but after listening, I've come to the conclusion that Muse just has so much more emotion in their music, something that radiohead lacks.
This is one of the finest albums to ever grace my ears.

This album contains the song that led me to falling in love with the group. "Muscle Museum". While I prefer their more recent album "Absolution", this album is still amazing.
It starts off with an explosive song called "Sunburn", and the rest of the songs are pretty mellow. All amazing in themselves, and given just that much more as you listen to the singer's voice, which, in my case, really adds that extra something to the music. He knows the music, and he matches the emotion to the music so you can really feel the words, and yet, you can still sing to the songs.
A great addition to any music library.....highly reccommended, along with "Absolution".

This is not an in-depth review of the album - in fact I've heard it only once. I don't know that much about Muse but I know plenty about the band to which they are so often compared.
My friend (a Muse fan) introduced me to this and compared it to Radiohead on account of the striking similarity of the vocals. I listened and I found what I have been looking for all along from RH. Radiohead was my favorite band once upon a time. This is reminiscent of them in the pre-OK Computer and post-Bends era(especially around the time of the My Iron Lung EP and the OK Comp. B-sides when they used to rock). I take this offering from Muse at face value...sure it's derivative, but it's what I have been waiting for from RH all along and those guys have not produced. Muse is on the right path...good and getting better. I love it and I am buying it as I write this and I will continue to listen as they progress.

This is a fine album but they do sound a lot like Radiohead!They have also been heavily influenced by The Smashing Pumpkins though the popular music press would have you believe they've been more influenced by Nirvana(typical of the prejudiced way the Pumpkins are treated compared to Nirvana in general).If it wasn't for the sometimes lack of originality,this album would be one of the great debuts of all time.They are outstandingly talented musicians though and Matt's a great vocalist.
