i first heard of muse when i heard uno on my local alternative station and i noticed the radiohead comparison straight away, which is only compimentary. being a big radiohead fan i was pretty interested in them. then i heard a live session they did and i heard the passion and energy in their music and knew i had to buy this album even if i am a poor penniless student. muse are an excellent band who demand you to listen and if you dont surely you're missing out. theyre young right now but by listening to them you get the feeling that they have their feet planted firmly on the ground and are only going to get better. theyre on their way up so catch them now!

Rating: - An Alternative Masterpiece
Muse have managed to fuse the best of the alternative rock spirit into their outstanding album. While Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins and others have an obvious influence on their style, Muse extracted the most beautiful and tender themes to create an overwhelming masterpiece. This is a true diamond, which keeps amazing me every time I listen to it. Each song delivers some other nuance. Outstanding!

This album has very very special place in my heart.My musical taste wasn't very developed until I heard "Sunburn".Before that I was casual listener,who didn't know anything about alternative bands. But Muse really rised my interest and through the web I learned more.After I heard Muscle Museum,I decided to order this album. The reason I give it *only* 4 stars is that there is still something that can be better.I can't put my fingers on it.Maybe they just need to grow more as a band. There isn't any song I dislike.Usually I listen the whole album.Still,every song has different atmosphere,so I may sometimes skip the songs that aren't equal to my state of mind at the time. So,if you like Nirvana,Radiohead,and all other alternative music,you should order this album. Muse has their own sound,though.Matt's voice is maybe similar to Thom Yorke's(my other fave,BTW)but the sounds are pure Muse! I can't wait their second album!

predictable blather. im very sorry, but this is just going too far. i write songs sometimes, and the one true accomplishment is making something unique, with it's own atmosphere, so when people hear it they say, i know exactly who that was. im sure this album is fine, but i cant listen to it without thinking about how the singer is trying to be something he's not. just be yourself man, its the one thing we are ALL good at.

Rating: - Radiohead Schmadiohead
So many people have blabbed on and on about all the Radiohead sound-alikes popping up in Britain these days. True, when Matt begins his soulfull, upper-range crooning, it does sound a bit Thom Yorke-esque. But Muse seems to have so much else going on that is strictly Muse, the comparisons have to end there in my opinion. One cannot help but love Radiohead, yet Muse's multi-layered media fest of a style strikes chords that run so deep in my stomach I never knew I had them. Even a staunch Radiohead Head friend of mine took to Muse in a crazy way, a way that he says he hasn't taken to a band SINCE Radiohead. It takes at least ten listenings to catch every iota of sound in this album. It baffles me, it simply amazes me, that three people MY AGE can make so much music. And they're this good even without the polished studio sound, as evidenced by the jawdropping live tracks on some of their singles. For me, this band is the find of the century.
