Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - pure talent
Well, what can u say about Muse which hasn't already been said? Matt, Chris and Dom are all talented musicians and possess a sound which is totally unique, dark and full of passion. The songs that stand out the first time u hear the album are Sunburn, Muscle Museum, Unintended and Showbiz which are all different from another but are all excellent.

Get this album...as u won't be disappointed! I've had it for months and still play their album everyday and I'm not tried of it. As for Matt..well, his vocals are superb, his falsettos and he can sing higher than me....

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Muscle Muse(um)
Well, Radiohead? I really doubt it.

Muse are close to the genre, alright (as well as many other bands are closer to one or another style), they are from Britain, ok, they even love Radiohead, but the list of similarities rather ends here.

For me, what makes them differ from their brit colleagues is the fact that they have more muscles - the music ones, of course: they sound different from any other since they have their own originality that is supported by their rich bass lines, heavy electric guitars and nice latin ones, and beautiful lyrics. They have even more: they've got the unique spirit of this album, the one that makes me believe they possess a huge talent and a definite future.

Sunburn, Showbiz, Uno, and Unintended are undoubtedly great songs that shape the cd well, however, for me, the real standouts are Muscle Museum and Escape.

Fillip, Cave, Overdue, and Hate This and I'll Love You are each unique in their sound, but overall just show the same perfectness of their creators.

Really worth buying and looking forward to their next album.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The sound of talent!
I bought this CD on a whim; I was low on cash, and needed something cheap. I wasn't expecting much from it, which was a huge mistake. The lead singer has an absolutely angelic voice, and I love to hear piano music in hard rock. Their songs remind me of every type of music out there; I can hear reggae, pop, even a little classical influence. Although it is a great CD, I think Muse's music is too straight-forward and boisterous to be truly embraced by popular music. But hey, they're still good, even if none of my friends have ever heard of them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - john leckie. my hero
magazine "real life": great vocals & killer guitar. xtc "go 2": great vocals & killer guitar. radiohead "the bends": great vocals & killer guitar. muse "showbiz" ....leckie has the incredible knack for making sure that the important things aren't overlooked. the bands don't give him anywhere near the credit he deserves. I compare his contribution to the landmark works of all these bands loosely to the contribution that George Martin so quietly made to the Beatles. (ok ok, I'm old but never lost my teenage spirit). Sorry, I digress. After the CRUSHING disappointment I felt with the release of KID A, listening to Muse on headphones reminded me that as soon as Brit musicians start getting too full of themselves there are younger ones ready to take over. Showbiz is the CD I listen to daily. I made a rather snazzy clock out of KID A. Let's keep it in perspective. Thanks. I feel better now.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - a special debut for an interesting band
You should purchase this album if only for tracks 2&7. "muscle museum" is a powerful, painful, quite out of the ordinary song and "unintended" is a touching ballad which I can't get enough of - both songs are 5 star material !

Singer Matthew Bellamy's voice is rich, full of emotion and beauty. Listening to his voice on the radio was what caught my interest and got me to purchase SHOWBIZ.

Though judged as a whole I award the album 3 stars, I don't regret buying it - and why is that ? because, though I didn't like some songs those I love are simply wonderful ("sunburn", "falling down", "sober", "hate this & I'll love you"). What's more it's obvious they love and enjoy what they're doing which is not always true in too many songs these days. Watch out for MUZE future releases - I know I will!

One sentence about them immitating RADIOHEAD - I think it unfair. I own all RADIOHEAD albums and while MUZE have undoubtedly been influenced by them, careful listening to SHOWBIZ proves MUSE managed to create a distinct sound that is all their own.
