Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Incredible
This album is wonderful! I listen to it constantly and have never liked a group more. Every song is very good, and I just can't stop listening to it. If anyone has any doubts on whether or not to buy it....go for it. It was well worth it. My favorite album!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Powerful And Emotional Debut!
This is as powerful a debut album as you're likely to hear.A singer with a truly amazing voice-adept at angry, deep and the highest falsetto.Guitar playing that's both melodic, loud, angry, full of power-chords and is also adept at the sweeping gentle chords also.A bass and rhythm section that hold the music together wonderfully and most amazingly on the incredible song "Showbiz".Yeah I like this c.d. and I also think Muse have a great future. You should see them live for one unforgetable experience.

One of the annoying things I find is the way they have been dogged with Radiohead comparisons from the very start.Yes there are certain similarities with the music and I would say they both share many fans.I think Muse are way better then any copycat band. There are too many good songs on this c.d. fpr people to be comparing them to any one other group. This c.d. has manged to produce many minor hit singles in the U.K.From the 12 tracks I would say at least 8 are excellent. The songs tend to build up from a quiet start to a full-blown noisy crescendo and they often end with a simple, queit piano chord.Matt Bellamy's voice tends to soar to the higher notes during these quieter moments. The lyrics are all full of angst, anger and the songs tend to tell stories of loss.

I have to admit it took me a while to like this c.d. but it really grows on you after a while.None of the songs are very commercial.Having said that, this c.d. has lasted longer in my c.d. then my average c.d.The highlights for me are the first song "Sunburn",which starts of with a swirling piano, meanders into a louder guitar section with Bellamy showing the full range of his vocal ability and then finishes off with the swirling piano.Song 5,"Cave" has a great guitar riff throughout the song and drifts effortlessly from quiet to loud. The song strutures are not your average verse, chorus formula.Song 6,"Showbiz" starts off with the heavy thud of bass drum and bass guitar. This song builds and builds with the vocals soaring higher and higher until it reaches a frenetic and emotional climax and then for good measure reverts back to the sounds of the start of the song."Unintended" is a quiter gentle ballad. It surprises you in that it never gets to have a loud section at all.Vocally it isn't far off the brilliant Jeff Buckley."Uno" starts off with the sound of guitar feedback-lyrically I found it to be one of the more angry songs on the c.d.-actually it's almost spiteful.

There is hardly a weak song on this c.d.The problem for Muse will be to come up with a follow up that is nearly as good as this. They are a group to watch out for and this c.d. deserves a place in the collections of people who like good alternative rock music.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - NOT another radiohead
i bought this cd after seeing the "muscle museum" video on mtv about a year ago. although i enjoyed "showbiz" at that very moment, it takes time to really appreciate this great group. muse is NOT rediohead, muse is much more interesting and unusual! the songs are so well written that it's hard to believe how young the author is. now i can see and hear a lot of very different influences that the band probably had, and, speaking of music, they go much further than any brit-pop/rock performer. i recommend that you buy their singles even if you already have the title songs on the album - the b-sides are exellent and uncover a whole lot more about muse. also, try listening to their live recordings - you'll see what i'm talking about - these guys are REALLY good.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Talented and Promising
If you like Thom Yorke of Radiohead, you'll like the lead singer of Muse. My husband introduced me to Muse not long ago, and I fell in love with them almost instantly. The songs are creative and musically sound, very well-written and mostly upbeat with a driving undertone. The vox are a Yorke-style wail (without being in the least copycat-ish) while at the same time rich and subtlely complex. Listen closely and you'll notice a truly individual vibe from Muse; I can't wait to hear more from them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Always On My Stereo
Muse are a group that are rapidly becoming one of the best groups around at the moment. Their album is a masterpiece, its easy to get into but it contains that edge that many albums seem to be missing. Showbiz contains the hit singles, Unintended, Sunburn, Muscle Museum and Plug In Baby show that this is an album that is worth having in your music collection
