- one of my favorite album
Ill communications stands out as landmark album from the 90s. The entire album was really well written and helped to set the stage for the beastie boys becoming one of the biggest bands of the decade.

- The new Beasties
After the success of "licensed to Ill" this album was not what some so-called Beastie Boy's fan's expected from their follow-up. Initially upon hearing it I was a little disappointed about not getting instant gratification like on the prior album but after really listening to the album I learned to appreciate their new direction musically. This was the album where you start to see the Beasties march to the beat of their own drummer. I swear you can listen to one song 3 times and get something different from it everytime not only lyrically but muscially. The Beasties definitely started going in a different direction on this one. There's songs like "3 Piece chicken dinner", "B-Boy Bouillabase" that are just as colorful as their titles. This is the blueprint for all the albums that followed it.
Rating: - Not the best, but still REALLY good
Y'know, this is probably...no...make that CERTAINLY my least favorite Beastie Boys album, which doesn't say it's bad. It's GREAT (Better than most rap out there)but doesn't show the Beasties at their best. If you've never bought a B-Boys album, you should try PAUL'S BOUTIQUE first (or if you're in it for their more popular stuff, License to Ill). Highlights: The Update, Ricky's Theme, and Get it Together. A good buy.

"Sabotage" is a killer ... "Sure Shot" and "Root Down" are deep. A lot of the rest of this plays like mildly amusing filler, but the highlights take the Besties further than before and make this worth having.

Just another stupendous Cd by the Beastie Boys. Just like Pauls Boutique, Liscensed to Ill, and Check Your Head, this Cd has a flavor all its own. Its much more rockified and less groove friendly than check your head. Its got some good rhymes to and they are alot more laid back than Pauls Boutique or Liscensed to Ill. Anyone looking for a classic rap cd or more from the Beastie Boys wont be dissapointed. Check ya later Im out like Chewbacca
