Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rumours - One of the Best
The music is still incredible, but .... Now I couldn't give Rumours anything less than the best score, but I have to say, the DVD-A mix is a little uneven among the songs. I waited in great anticipation to play the DVD-A version once I finally had my new home theater system set up including my brand new Pioneer-45A (DVD-A,SACD combo player).

While the majority of mixes are really good, I was really disappointed with "Go Your Own Way." The vocals sound distant (they should be up front), somewhat reminiscent of "Gold Dust Woman" where the vocals are supposed to sound a little distant. Also, the driving punch of the Mick Fleetwood's drums is missing. In fact, when you hear the drums on GYOW, they sound distant and boomy. On "You Make Loving Fun," Christine McVie's vocals seem to get overwhelmed by the music. Here the punch of the drums seems too much. There's something wrong with "Second Hand News" too, but it's hard to describe.

On the good side, "Dreams" has a nice warm feel to it. "Oh Daddy," which I never really liked until now, sounds fantastic in the 5.1 mix. The 5.1 mix for "Silver Springs" is also done very nicely with the acoustic guitar set in the rear speakers. The remaining songs are mixed okay too.

If you really want to hear how good a DVD-A mix can be done, check out the Eagles' Hotel California. It will leave you wanting another remix of the Rumours DVD-A.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rumours
I bought this CD 3 days ago at The Wal-Mart. I had heard alot of the songs on this album, and I figured any CD good enough to knock Hotel California out of #1 had to be an awesome CD.
Second Hand News- Awesome Song with great music
Dreams- One of the best on the Cd
Never Going Back Again- Great Song with an acoustic guitar as the lead instrument
Don't Stop- AWESOME
Go Your Own Way- Most well known song of this album and 2nd best on this album
Sonbird- Softest song on the album but Stevie Nicks sounds great on it
The Chain- Best on album best Fleetwood Mac song
You Make Loving Fun- Awesome up-tempo type song
I Don't Want to Know- Pretty Good
Oh Daddy- Awesome
Gold Dust Woman- Great

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Great Rock Classic
Albums generally do not become classic 20 years after they are released. They become classic a few years after their release, and their reputation continues to build from there. Such is the case with "Rumours". When this album was released in 1977, it was the eclectic combination of rapid pop songs such as "Second Hand News" and "Go Your Own Way" combined with surreal Stevie Nicks' songs like "Dreams" that created an album that was able to realize the artistic ambitions of rock music.

You could write a review only on the range of music on this CD. Given the number of artists collaborating on this album, you get a blues and country influenced song, "Never Going Back Again". There are lush orchestrated rock songs with strong blues influence like "Don't Stop". The quiet ballad "Songbird" sounds as though it would be at home in a lounge. "The Chain" with a strong bass backbeat shows influences from metal to blues. There are songs like "I Don't Want to Know" that would fit as easily into a country album as a rock album. "Oh Daddy" is another ballad that could be almost anything, but has elements of an abusive relationship. A dark, foreboding song. "Gold Dust Woman" is another dark song, poetry and surreal images, rock as art as it can be.

The very range of elements, and the excellence with which they are achieved, are why this album became great. Even though the album was recorded 25+ years ago, the variety and skill of execution plays well today, and allows a new listener to understand why this album is considered one of the greats.

Generally I spend a significant amount of time going into what each song contributes, and how the music was performed and so on. However, this album is one of the few that requires little explanation. There are few albums that rise to the level of art that is readily accessible (as an example, I also consider R.E.M.'s "Automatic for the People" in this same category). This album is one of those. If you appreciate rock when it becomes art, and the great music in general, you must have this for your collection.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Over-rated, but Essential
Much has been said and written about this album over the years
but I beleive it is more of a document from a band that has finally stablized more than anything else. Many people have considered this album one of the best of all time. This is the best Fleetwood Mac album in the band's history. The problem is many people remember Stevie Nicks contributions to the band and
forget longtime member Christine McVie's contributions. Christine has a beautiful voice, and the cuts on this LP "Don't Stop and You Make Loving Fun are classics. This album is timeless and essential but check out other Mac albums also and give a listen to Pre-Rumour albums and other Fleetwood Mac lineups such as the Peter Green Mac material from the 60's and the Christine McVie/Bob Wetch Mac Material from the early 70's
(1971-1974) as well as the "Fleetwood Mac album with Buckingham and Nicks from 1975 as well as the post 1977
Rumours material. You will find every Fleetwood Mac lineup, Spencer/Kirwan, Green,(1968-1969)Kirwan/McVie/Welch (1971-1972)Welch and McVie (1973-1974)Buckingham/Nicks/McVie and Nicks/McVie/Burnette and Burnette/Mason/ Bramlett/McVie (1995) have something to offer.
