Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Led Zeppelin is back to sit down in their throne again.
Led Zeppelin is an interesting band. They have several genres : Blues Rock, Classical Rock, and Hard Rock. They influenced many artists and revolutionized music. Though the album only has 8 tracks, they all seem to be great. Several which dominated the billboards.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A masterpiece speaks for itself
There isn't much to say, if the album was really as bad as 1 guy would have you think, it wouldn't have over 900 reviews, get 3/4 of it's songs played on the radio at least once a day, spawned a song with over 50 years combined radio airplay, spent over 259 weeks on the US charts, is ranked 3rd on the US list of best-selling albums of all time (and 11th in the World), has sold over 23 million copies, and despite a very admirable effort from 1 guy in California still has a 4 1/2 rating on Amazon.com...

It's funny though... the Dire Straits and Foreigner don't have anything that comes close (considering the Dire Straits only had 1 album that sold)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - When Gods Roamed the Earth...
Few rock bands know when they're going to make history. Such was the case with Led Zeppelin and their fourth album.

In 1971, Led Zeppelin was wrecking its way through the rock scene and setting the stage that many others would eventually follow. The band kept getting better and better on the road and in the studio, and then delivered this: the untitled fourth album.

What strikes me about the album over 20 years since I first heard it, is the unbridled sound and passion of a band intent on conquering the world. Sheer power in the form of "Black Dog" and "Rock n Roll" open the album followed by the lyrical interlude of the "Battle of Evermore" and the Lord of the Rings journey of "Stairway to Heaven."

The album interprets Jimmy Page's sonic vision of what he called: 'light and shade.' But it's Robert Plant's rocket voice that seems to soar higher and higher into an uncharted terrain with tracks like "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks" that reflects the no-limits approach of the band at this stage.

Plant might have done his voice more harm than good in trying to hit the superhigh notes, but he carved the band a place in rock history.

Then with "Going to California" - Zep settles into their folk roots. Bonzo's drums crash in like thunder on "When the Levee Breaks" - a radical reworking of Memphis Minnie's old blues - and with Plant singing "going down" to Page's distorted guitar - Zep's epic fourth adventure comes to an end.

The world would never be the same again after this soundscape.

Zep was later reviled as being a dinosaur of rock by some, but close listening to this album reveal a band ahead of its time and highly cutting-edge. Radical, experimental and fearless, the band was totally committed to its own direction. That alone makes this an immortal release.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A classic, everyone must own it, even those that would not describe themselves as Led Zep fans.

Nothing more to be said. You must own this CD.

If you like the hard-rock, riff-driven songs on this CD, I recommend Led Zeppelin II - it contains Zep's best riffs.

What's there to say? Either you like them, or you don't.
