Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's The New Style...
4 and 3 and 2 and 1...and when i'm on the mic, the suckas run. And so it began. As fresh today as it was way back in 1986, 'Licensed To Ill" presented rap music to white audiences everywhere, through it's exploits of beer drinkin', girlie chasin' and White Castle eatin'. RUN DMC and LL Cool J's albums at the time weren't recorded in any language that made them difficult for mainstream audiences to understand, for whatever reason they didn't captivate young white America like the Beastie's did. 'Licensed To Ill' is like a fantastic expansion of DMC & Aerosmith's "Walk This Way", with some non-crossover rap thrown in for good measure. Synthesized beats, sampled guitar riffs, and all-too-catchy lyrics all compose this fantastic record, and not much else can be said about it that hasn't been said already. If you haven't yet, GO BUY THIS ALBUM.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - beastie bash
I bought this album after hearing the mediocre Northern State compared to someone called the Beasite Boys. I knew the beasties were white jewish rappers from way back, but not much else. Now, after about a day and half with Licensed to Ill, I'm beginning to become a fan.

I can't believe this was released in 1986. These songs haven't lost any relevance over the last 17 years. Fight for Your Right was their biggest hit but it's not the best track on the cd. The infamous Paul Revere, which mentions doing the sheriff's daughter with a wiffle ball bat, is very slick and I can't get Brass Monkey out of my head.

These white, middle class, jewish boys made the first ever mainstream rap album and one of the best ever. Yeah, they were brats and wiseasses, but their music was better for it. The best frat-house party album to date. One of the best damn albums period.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - We're Talk'n Ol' School
This is a good album. All of the tunes will be stuck in your head forever. Even though I may be 11, I still know my music. It's a great deal and you'll thank me for buying it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of the most important albums of the 80s
Rap was an underground phenomenon primarily because it was blacks' music. Nevermind that some of the best hip hop artists in history were pumping out masterpieces before 1986. They were black. And for that reason, the music didn't appeal to an American audience (primarily white). Therefore it was inevitable that white guys were going to bring rap to the mainstream and 1986 was the year when it began to happen. The amazing thing is, we didn't get corny white guys who could pump out an occasional catchy single (I present Vanilla Ice). We had the most talented white rap group that ever was. The Beasties were geniuses and this record shows it. Sure they ripped off about every beat and overexaggerated their street-smarts, but they pulled it off and remained beleivable. Rick Ruben (the producer) was smart enough to intermingle with some kickass metal riffs which got the rock fans interested, but the Beasties pulled their own weight. Their lyrics are insane, funny, and incredibly witty. The first track of the record "Rhymin and Stealin" is one of the most powerful openers on any album and "Fight for your right to Party" is a classic headbanging song. Despite the fact the Beasties were accused of jeering and parodying rap, they were an enourmous success and along with Run DMC, paved the way for rap and rap-rock to reach the mainstream. The album is one of the most important albums of the golden age, and of the 80s for that matter. The Beastie's eclectic taste gives them an unpredictable, fun edge which allows them to pump out corny sing-along songs "Girls", "Brass Monkey", poweful rap-rock "No Sleep till Brooklyn", "Fight for your Right to Party" (which showcases their previous hardcore punk sound)and plain old good rap "Paul Revere", "The New Style". It's a great beginning for one of the most talented and influential bands of our time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This CD Rocks!!!
This CD is a big part of music history. It started the phanomana formally known as the Beastie Boys. With songs on it such as Fight for Your Right, Brass Monkey, and No Sleep Til Brooklyn... how could anyone say this album sucks??? I bought the CD thinkin it'd be funny to have cus I thought the Beastie Boys sucked... but now I love their music. Their lyrics and beats are a little goofy but that's what makes em great. Basically, long story short... This CD is one of a kind.
