Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - The end of a good run....
High 'n Dry, Pyromania, and Hysteria -- Three great albums that showcased what Def Leppard had to offer, and how their music continued to evolve and change. Unfortunately, like many other good bands from the 80's, Def Leppard seemed lost at the start of the '90's, in part due to the changing music scene. The release of Adrenalize was unfortunate, as it signfied (at least to me) the end of a great band. This album neither re-captures any of the glory of the previous albums, nor does it show the band moving in any new direction. The feel of the songs on the album are much softer, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as they are good. Unfortunately, they aren't.....Songs like "Let's get rocked" and "Make Love Like A Man" are simply lame. "Have you ever needed someone so bad" is absolutely dripping with sap. The only redeeming songs on the album are "Tonight" and "White Lightening".

I truly hope that Def Leppard will release something good in the future....but until then...I still have their first four albums to enjoy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's the same old tricks - but I like it!
Yes, it's true. Def Leppard went rummaging through the leftovers of Hysteria to record Adrenalize. Still, I think there was some growth on this album. Phil Collen really came into his own as a guitarist, expanding sonically on the classic blues rock style of Steve Clark (R.I.P.). My favorite cuts on the album are "Tonight" and "Stand Up." We may have heard some of these riffs before, but this collection is my favorite.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Underated Def Leppard Album
Adrenalize had the impossible task of living up to Leppard's monster "Hysteria." Of course it did very well, but was unfairly attacked by many. This is a great album all the way through. Yes its not as heavy as the early stuff, but if your looking for pure power commercial metal, look no further. Stand out tracks include "Let's Get Rocked", "Make Love Like A Man", "White Lightning", "Tonight" and "Tear It Down." In fact there is not a weak song on the entire CD. A must have for Leppard fans.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good, not Great, Definitley Misplaced
Is it a little strange for a band who just lost their founding guitarist to put out the most meaningless, catchy, commercially-orientated album ever? .

Adrenalize, upon first listen, is sheer delight. 10 songs, occasionally reaching new heights, such as White Lightning, Let's Get Rock, and Stand Up, and the rest, while it may be unoriginal, is certainly catchy. Only in retrospect does it show that this album is just not up to snuff with their other releases.

Listening carefully to the rhythms and it shows, plain as day, that this album is one Hysteria / Pyromania rip after another, from Heaven Is (Photograph), to Tonight (Foolin) to Stand Up (Hysteria) to Personal Property (Don't Shoot Shotgun) to I Wanna Touch You (Pour Some Sugar), Occasionally this album is great, however, and the inclusion of the Hysteria B-side 'Tear it Down' shows that this band still knows how to rock.

Despite the death of Steve Clark, the guitar attack, courtesy of Phil Collen all by his lonesome, is a major step up from Hysteria, as well. It shows just how overrated Clark was and how underrated Phil Collen was.

Adrenalize isn't original at all, save for the three great cuts (Let's Get Rocked, White Lightening, Stand Up) that still show this band wasn't done yet. It may be contrived, but it sounds perfect while it's playing. Just don't compare it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Hysteria II
Rick Savage said in a interview that a lot of these songs were "Hysteria" leftovers. Couldn't have said it better myself, Sav! Sonically, it's perfect, but the same ground was covered much better in "Hysteria". It's still a fun album to listen to, though. Let's get rocked!
