Blessed Assurance - Hymns arranged for Solo PianoRelease Date March 11, 2003 I didn't know what to expect when I first put this CD in my car's player, but I was pleasantly surprised at the imaginative and insightful arrangements and performance of these "standard" hymn tunes. The influences of many composers can be heard, from classical through jazz to pop: bits of Brahms mingled with Sondheim, Ellington and Oscar Peterson fused with snatches of Bach and Mozart, even tinges of Latin and African American gospel influences. All-in-all a wonderful listening experience! I hope Kogut & Stahl produce more recordings. |
