Anywhere I Lay My Headby: Scarlett Johansson Release Date May 20, 2008 When I first heard of this album, I was hoping SJ would really do a great job. But I've given this album a listen and I've read the listener reviews on Amazon, which some point out that since Waits can't sing or croon, then SJ (or anybody for that matter) should be able to pull the songs off. But those who take that position miss the most important aspect of Tom Waits' singing voice - voice character. Waits' songs are loved because of the character Waits' voice gives them. Neil Young certainly doesn't have the greatest voice, but its the character of Neil's voice. If Chris Daughtry did a Neil Young cover album, the songs would be almost unrecognizable.
