How Late'll Ya Play 'Til?, Vol. 1: Liveby: David Bromberg Release Date January 10, 1995 One of the best of Bromberg's albums. Bromberg has been around as a studio musician, backup singer/guitarist, and soloist for close to 40 years. For those not familiar with him, this is a great introduction to a self-described old, Jewish, overweight blues singer with extraordinary stage presence, much of which is on display in this CD - especially Bullfrog Blues, one of the great talking blues tracks you will ever hear. His version of "Come into my kitchen" is remarkable; his guitar supplies the lyrics you just imagine. For those who love him but have missed this CD, get it asap. (Wish I could say the same for volumne 2 of this set, which is a studio recording; not nearly as exciting). |
