Editorial Review:
Product Description: Special Edition includes bonus tracks and a DVD featuring the making of All Hope Is Gone. After over 5 million albums sold in the US, Slipknot returns with their most powerful statement yet - All Hope Is Gone. Filled with the fury people have come to expect from Slipknot as well as some extraordinary surprises, this album is the culmination of the band' s 9 unique members, three platinum albums and their 10 year journey at the top of the Hard Rock genre. Kicked off by the powerful crescendo that is Execute and Gematria (The Killing Name) and ending with the blistering track All Hope Is Gone - the album is a cohesive statement about the world today and truly cements the band as one of Rock' s heavyweights. The lead single Psychosocial will propel the new album to match and exceed the success of the last album, Vol 3: Subliminal Verses which produced numerous Top 20 songs at Rock radio including a Top 5 track at Active and Modern Rock radio.

Slipknot never fail to impress me. When you talk about "ambition" in music, Slipknot epitomizes ambition. ALL HOPE IS GONE is no different from other Slipknot albums in the sense of capitolizing on ambition and creativity. It serves as another strong addtion to Slipknot's discography.
".execute" serves an excellent intro to ALL HOPE IS GONE as it is representative of the sounds and ideas that ALL HOPE IS GONE pushes. "Gemantra (The Killing Name)" is where the real meat lies, serving as a fine opening track. From the jagged opening guitar riffs of "Gemantra", you can tell the "masked freaks" are going to take you for quite a trip, as always. They may also drag you to hell with them along the way, if you know what I mean, but ... Read More:

Slipknot are back, thank god. This album is great, and brutal, and great addition to their previous kick a$$ albums. Play this load and watch the britney/avril albums shrivel up and die.

I have now listened to this cd 4 times and can't come to any other conclusion. It borders on unlistenable. It is very hard to hear commentaries on war and politics from guys wearing clown masks. Slipknot even performs a ballad on this cd. This isn't a case of a band growing but one struggling to find its way and really lacking in anything to be angry about. If you want a hard rocking cd buy Shinedown. Much better!

alright, everyone knows about slipknot. if ya dont, get out from under the rock you live under. that being said, i was really surprised at how the music sounded for the new album. i enjoyed the last one, and i also enjoyed IOWA. i wasnt a fan of the s/t album as most "maggots" are. i dont consider myself a maggot, im more of a casual listener. in the end, this album is an evolution of the last album. if you enjoyed the last one, then this one may also do the trick. there more thrash riffs on this one. and less acoustic songs. thank god for that, i liked circle on vol. 3 but vermillion pt 2 sucked imo. its heavy, catchy and pissed off. which is how i like my music.

A couple CDs ago, The Knot released Iowa, the band's heaviest and most hard-hitting outing yet. It had the infamous "People = S***", which was a fun song and was excellent to listen to, as it had the Death Metal feel and just rips your head off and shoves it up your arse the moment it begins. Seeing as Vol. Slipknot - Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses) had no swearing on it, it still has is their best. And here, Slipknot has put out a Volume 4. Don't worry guys, Slipknot hasn't changed. They are still THE SAME BAND. Aside from the fact that there's a ballad on here (which isn't a bad thing, it's a good track), There isn't anything new here. It just feels like an album of outtakes really. But there are some excellent tracks on here for sure. The ... Read More:
