Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: John Mayer's third studio album follows the multi-platinum "Room for Squares" (2001) and "Heavier Things" (2003), and marks his first turn as producer. It is his most soulful, cohesive collection yet and he says it's no accident that this project is where all of his efforts, his potential, and his disparate influences fully come together.

Amazon.com: Continuum is about as apt a title as it gets for John Mayer's third studio disc. Every element, from the peerless guitar playing to the plainspoken poetry of the lyrics to the breathy-sincere singing, makes a return from previous efforts. But to weakly pronounce this another worthwhile effort from an artist the world has come to expect a whole lot from and then call it a day would be no minor misdeed, because it's also the best, boldest disc he's ever made. Taking maturity as a theme throughout, Mayer tackles a batch of adulthood's bogeymen: indifference on the uptempo chart-climber "Waiting for the World to Change," aging on the melancholy-sweet "Stop This Train," and emotional trainwreckage on the big-rocking "In Repair." That's not to suggest he's turned overly introspective--check the Jimi Hendrix cover "Bold As Love," where he hits one home for guitarists who've been living in the shadow of legend everywhere, and the hard-charging "Belief," which benefits from a mesmerizing, liquid groove. Continuum may be the third in a series, but a creative cop-out this is not; Mayer is his generation's musical superman--powerful, unassailable, and magnetic. Hand that man a cape. --Tammy La Gorce

First of all, this is a painfully boring cd. I love his first 2 cds and listen to them all the time but this one is just not all that great. When I saw this album online, it lists "Say" as the last song. My wife bought me the 2 cd set but it didn't have Say on it so I returned it to the store and traded for the cd with the darker cover. It didn't list Say either but I thought maybe it was a hidden track. Well, it's not on there. Why is "Say" listed as one of the songs on the cd when you research it on Amazon, Best Buy, or even JM's website but when you buy the cd, "Say" isn't on it? Are there in fact THREE versions of this crappy cd?

Grammy winning artist John Mayer has shown his stuff with "Continuum". Set includes "Belief", "Gravity", "In Repair" and "Vultures". Mayer has become involved in the 2008 Presidential Election - Interestingly, in the 2008 Presidential Primary race, New York Senator Hillary Clinton earned more Votes than any other Presidential Primary candidate in the history of America (hillaryclintonforum, the denver group)

but this CD was horrible. I only listened to it once all the way through, so maybe it's one of those CDs that you have to get used to. Either way, I couldn't even imagine spending the time to listen to it again.
With how popular he is, maybe my expectations were too high. The lyrics are pretty ordinary, and his singing is annoying since it's the same on most every song. I was also disappointed with the guitar work, as I really appreciate a talented guitarist and was looking forward to discovering another great musician to listen to. Mayer is definitely overrated in this category.
As I said, I usually don't write negative reviews, but I wanted to warn others who are thinking about Mayer as being anything notable. ... Read More:

This is the best CD ever! John Mayer is a really awesome singer, but this CD really got me!

This item took over a month to get, and that was after I wrote numerous emails to the seller. On top of that, the CD I received was not the version of "Continuum" I ordered. Do not waste your time with this inefficient seller.
