Editorial Review:
Album Description: 2008 re-release of A Place to Land, the third studio album by Country music group Little Big Town who found a home at Capitol Records Nashville. "We want the world to hear this music," says Schlapman, "It's how we tell the story of our lives." In addition to the project's 12 original tracks, the re-release features four brand new studio tracks, as well as "Life in a Northern Town," a live collaboration with former tourmates Sugarland and Jake Owen. Riding on the success of the album's hit single "Fine Line," A Place to Land demonstrates the group's continuing growth and evolution. Originally released in 2007 as their second album on the independent Equity Music Group label.
Amazon.com: If Little Big Town's platinum-selling debut, The Road to Here, found the foursome putting a backwoods spin on both Fleetwood Mac and the Southern California rock scene, the band's sophomore release pays such direct tribute to their heroes that you'd have to have a tin ear not to recognize the very songs that inspired them. Liked Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way?" They've got it under the bargain title "Fine Line." Loved "The Chain" and "Landslide?" They're here, too, but with different titles. Crosby, Stills & Nash's "Suite: Judy Eyes?" Try "I'm with the Band." And if it's Sheryl Crow or the Eagles you want, consider A Place to Land one-stop shopping. And why not? If the latter artists started out enamored with country, why can't Nashville return the favor? Who could resist those impeccably arranged and polished harmonies wrapped around such trendy topics as emotional abuse and low self-esteem? Homage never sounded so heavenly. --Alanna Nash

I heard Little big town on a tv broadcast about the Nashville CM-Awards and was electrified. Incredible what these 4 musicians are presenting: Fantastic vocals, wonderful guitars and many other "strings" (mandolin, dulcimer etc.) that are perfectly arranged and yet nothing seems to be "overproduced". Even some of the songs, which are written mostly by their own have the guts to be evergreens. Listen to "Evangeline" or "i`m with the band".
I never thought, that there would be ever a group, who is able to combine the particular skills of the Eagles, the Corrs and Keith Urban.
Little big town for sure can do!
In the credits Karen writes: "I like to thank God for the opportunity to share the gifts you have given to me"

It's been quite a while since I've heard vocal work this strong. LBT's two-male, two-female lineup lays a perfect four-pack of rich, intertwined, and layered harmonies atop punchy, power-pop, country-rock songs that recall Eagles and Fleetwood Mac at their finest. An electrifying positivism runs through the band's lyrics. Producer / writer / multi-instrumentalist Wayne Kirkpatrick leads the band members Phillip Sweet, Jimi Westbrook, Karen Fairchild, and Kimberly Schlapman through arrangements that never forget their six-string origins. Guest musician Chris McHugh deserves special mention for his inventive drum work, particularly on the backbeat heat of opener "Fine Line." Other highlights include the tender, life-affirming "Vapor," the ... Read More:

My daughter introduced me to Little Big Town - I must admit that I don't listen to too much Country music, so they came as a real surprise. But, it sure was a pleasant surprise! LBT is four fresh-faced youngsters that have a great sound, a sound that highly reminds me of Fleetwood Mac at their best, but given a great Country shine.
My favorite songs on this album are A Place To Land, and Evangeline, but they all are excellent tune. So, let me just say that if you are a fan of Country music, or just love that beautiful harmonizing that Fleetwood Mac did so well, then you will love this album. I give it my highest recommendations!

These guys and gals have the tightest harmonies and rock out. The lyrics are some of the best of any genre. I cannot wait to catch them LIVE next time they are in So Cal.
