Editorial Review:
Album Description: Om Records' first lady, Colette, returns with 'Push' the highly anticipated follow up to her critically acclaimed Billboard Magazine #1 charting debut "Hypnotized" - featuring the hit singles 'About Us,' 'If,' and 'Funny' featuring a collaboration with Om: Hip Hop newcomer Black Spade. Given her art for stylistically blending her own beautiful classically trained voice with some of the most cutting edge production of her career, Push aims to take Colette into the large global dance and alternative pop worlds. Performing at over a hundred shows a year in front of audiences around the world including Coachella, The Grammys, MAC Cosmetics special events and more - while maintaining her monthly residency in Chicago at Smart Bar, and leading the charge for female DJ's with the first ever all-women DJ collective, Superjane - and releasing multiple DJ mixed compilations including a volume in the heralded 'House of Om' series with label mates Mark Farina, Kaskade, DJ Sneak and more, plus licensing her music to the International hit film "The Devil Wears Prada," the impact of Colette and her music is virtually everywhere.

I was "pushed" to buy this album after seeing Colette live in Indianapolis. What amazing talent she has...to be able to spin & sing at the same time...just blew my mind. It's also great to see more and more successful female dj's in the business. Go girl power!

House vocalist Colette is yet another artist whose album I had on my list of "albums to listen to" but I don't remember where I heard of her. At any rate, her second album Push is pretty good.
The subject matter at the beginning of the album gets a little redundant, however; many of the songs are about not being treated right by her man, but fortunately, the tracks are danceable enough. The best songs would probably have to be "Dance with You" and "Runnin Round". And the only guest star on here is Black Spade, who drops a dope verse on "Funny".
Speaking of that song though, this is another one of those albums where the last few tracks are just remixes of earlier tracks: "About Us" (re-titled "About You"), "Funny" and ... Read More:

I must admit my only exposure to Colette (A.K.A DJ Colette) is the album, "Push". I caught the video for "If" on T.V. and I thought it was pretty catchy tune. I decided to take a chance and buy the album. I was pleasantly surprised. Colette has a very nice voice and I can see why there are some parallels between her and Kylie Minogue. However Colette has her own style when it comes to being a "soprano", so to speak.
The music has a dance/pop/techno thing going on, which is a good thing. If a person is looking for hardcore techno or an acid loop death industrial movement look elsewhere. One can tell just by looking at the album sleeve that the material will be rather jubilant. As a matter of fact, some of the songs remind ... Read More:

I bought this thinking that it would be like the others I have but when I listed to it it was kinda boring. It was a little to pop and not enough dance.

the last reviewer had it all wrong; this album is good. If you're a Colette fan its even better. Th album is much more dancefloor friendly than hypnotized was, and much more uptempo than the recent andy Caldwell OM solo album. also, if you are driving to see an artist you should at least know wheter they are playing live or not. I as Colette at vanguard in la, knew it was a live show, and she was amazing. There aren't many people who can sing like her.
