Granted, 80's Metal may be a slightly misleading title, but this album does offer up a nice helping of hair metal and hard rock tunes. It features great songs like "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "Rock Me," but it also has some lesser known tunes from bands that didn't get the airplay that bands like Poison and the Scorpions (who's "Talk Dirty To Me" and "Blackout" are on this album, respectively). Bands like Rainbow, Accept, and Y&T, didn't make it into the radio rotation as much as Slaughter and White Lion, but they all put out some excellent songs. Other bands featured include Tora Tora, Winger, White Lion, Enuff Z'Nuff, L.A. Guns, Extreme, Mr. Big and Britney Fox.
Standout tunes include Lita Ford's "Kiss Me Deadly," Queensryche's ... Read More:

This is a really good hair metal cd and gets every hair band out there that wasn't to big and some big ones.
It is missing bands like Whitesnake, Ratt, and MOTLEY CRUE!
but it still rocks.
Bands like Cinderella should have had the song Shake Me and Poison should have Nothin' But A Good Time but ohh well.
Highlihts are TNT, Cinderella, Europe, Mr.Big, Whitelion, Dangerous Toys, Accept, Great White, Slaughter, Kingdom Come, Warrant, Twisted Sister, Extreme, Winger, Dokken, Scorpions, Bang Tango, L.A. Guns, Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force, and Quiet Riot.
BUY IT AND LET METAL LIVE FOREVER!

Without commenting on the phenomenon of "hair metal" itself (because we all know that's never been done before), this compilation serves as a reminder that unfortunately when "grunge" came around, some babies got thrown out with the bathwater. This compilation has a few babies (i.e. Bang Tango, Kix, Dangerous Toys) and it has some bathwater, also (i.e. Poison, Warrant). So it's kind of a non-discriminatory sampling of the bands of the day, not counting the emerging thrash bands from back then (could the label possibly even get enough material cleared for a "Thrash Gold" compilation??). These songs are not necessarily the biggest singles from these bands, either, but a band's best songs aren't necessarily their biggest singles. This compilation ... Read More:

Some very good with some not so good metal. I think the Rhino "Youth Gone Wild" series is better.

I was excited when I saw this CD title in the future releases. When I finally looked at it, I was shocked to see that there is NO metal on this compilation! Most of these songs can barely be described as hard rock. This is heavy pop. I wish they had called it 80's GLAM. I hope the future brings an addition to this usually excellent series with Testament, Exodus, Rage, Vio-lence, Megadeth, etc.
