Editorial Review:
Album Description: Fabric Records together with The Herbaliser are proud to present their latest– FabricLive 26.
Since the group formed over 10 years ago, The Herbaliser have toured the world, become a headlining festival act, produced artist albums, contributed to film soundtracks (Guy Ritchie’s Snatch), written theme tunes (ESPN’s prime time Sunday Night Football) and worked with some of the most talented artists in the world.
FabricLive 26 flies by in a Hip Hop heat haze. Members Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry perform turntable gymnastics, throwing down bumping rhythms and energetic cuts and mixing up the rare, the obscure, the loved and the lost. This is an irresistible, addictive and infectious mix, blending the past, present and future of body rocking, dancefloor sounds.

I've been trying to chase down this mixed compilation for a couple of months now. Ever since I saw that The Herbaliser (Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba) contributed a mix towards London nightclub's Fabric label. Known for their trip-hop, downtempo, and jazz infused instrumental hip-hop tracks, The Herbaliser got signed to Ninja Tune back in 1995, and since then been a resident for the label's staple sound. Their last appearance was a 7" single on Skyline Recordings, as well as a track contribution (Gadget Funk) towards a 2008 triple CD sampler from Ninja Tune, You Don't Know: Ninja Cuts. For the FabricLive.26 mix, The Herbaliser took a step back from downtempo sound to make a party mix. And what a mix it is. The turntable skills are flawless, but ... Read More:

Fabriclive has a lot of terrible albums in their ever-expanding series. It's a very nice treat when a great one like this comes along. A no non-sense live performance by The Herbaliser chalked full of tracks with tight lyrics and spun with an artistic flare from beginning to end.
As a reference point to compare, I thought Fabriclive.19 by The Freestylers was absolutely horrible. The Herbaliser's Fabriclive album makes The Freestylers' set sound like something from a local ghetto "talent" show.
This album ties Adam Freeland's Fabriclive.16 with 4/5 stars.

I've been on Amazon awhile and have never written a review, but this CD is so good I just had too! I'm usually not a hip-hop head, but perfect mixing and excellent tracks all over this cd made me change my mind, with highlights coming from nextmen ft. dynamite mc, and hurby's machine ft. antoinette, not to mention breakestra ft. soup and double k. do yourself a favor and buy this CD!!

Firstly this cd opens with the over played Million Dan's Dogz N Sledgez. Depending on your taste, you either love or hate this track. These guys pick up the tempo with Hurby's Machine Feat. Antoinette and with James Brown thrown in..u gonna love this...the most suprise track drop on the mix was the jackson's five "it's Great To Be Here " ..now thats seamless mixing with Nextmen Feat. Dynamite MC - Spin It Round ..these guys make it sound so easy..the rest is for you to explore and enjoy..an album worth keeping in your collection..

I haven't been a hip-hop head in a long time. I'm old enough to remember when it first came on the scene, and like everyone I know of my generation, got caught up in the sheer excitement and inventiveness of it all. Now, I know I'm getting old, but the older I get, the less hip-hop I hear that I like any more. It's either too thuggy for a home owner like myself to relate to, or it seems to me like it lacks the spark of genius that the best old school hip-hop had. Now, I know that this compilation contains some dusty old school stuff that an old fart like me can appreciate, but the new stuff on here is just what I've been missing. Fun, funky and full of sparks. I'm so glad I tuned into this, and if you're old like me you'll want to tune in, too. ... Read More:
