 Rating: - Best CD we bought in 2006My husband and I first saw (heard of) Benton Paul at a private concert sponsored by my husband's company last summer in Provo, Utah. We actually went to the concert to see Maren Ord (a canadian singer-songwriter whose albums we love) and Benton Paul was there with her. By the end of the concert, we were as thrilled to have discovered Benton Paul as we were to finally hear Maren in concert. We bought his CD (Wise & the Weak) and it ended up being the best album we purchased all year. Best songs on the album (in our opinion) Leave Better Women Are A Necessary Evil Here's To The Boys Wise & The Weak (Album Title) I actually used the song, "Leave Better" on a video presentation ... I saw Benton Paul play in Aberdeen WA this past summer when he opened for Tyler Hilton. After the show, me and my friend promised eachother we'd find out who this amazing guy was. Here I am about 4 months later, listening to his CD that I just got from my friend for my brithday. It is excellent. So far my favorite songs are "Here's to the Boys" and "Leave Better". The CD rounds off with 12 songs that are all wonderful. I love Benton's voice which is so unique. His music and voice is the perfect combination of everything; folky, jazzy, raspy, and soulful with songs that are a combo of folk, acoustic rock and so ... Read More: |
