 Rating:  - OK for first effortI'm sorry, I love this band but this album ain't the greatest. Only 6 tracks, 7 if you count the incredibly annoying track at the end. They give you 1-6 and then 13 blank tracks and then add a track at 20. I HATE it when bands do this. Do you really think that by making your album LESS LISTENABLE you'll be attracting fans? Its the same way with Carnavas in that they add 2 minutes of dissonant noise to the end of what is probably the best track on the album. I guess THAT one's not going in my ipod. It's just so juvenile and I have to call bands out on it. And there are MANY bands that still do this and need to be told NO! Anyway, if you love Carnavas you'll probably hate this album. The only bad thing I have to say about the album is what the heck is the deal with the 16 empty 45 second tracks before the last song?! Other than that, this is a great compliment to Carnavas. Rating:  - Fans will love itI bought this after falling in love with Carnavas- it shows great emotion and is a great EP- looking forward to anything else they release- amazing band!! ...All the Go Inbetweens is my personal favorite- great song!! Rating:  - Get "Kissing Families" on Itunes and then pick up Carnavas; the rest of Pikul's forgettable.1 year before the Silversun Pickups released their first LP, Carnavas, (which was really cool and ambient, if at times unfocused and over-produced,) they released Pikul, a 7-song EP. As a person who liked Carnavas a lot, I was interested in hearing some of this band's earlier work. Unfortunately there's not much here to really excite. Kissing Families is a great song and can easily stand along with the best off Carnavas. The rest of this CD's so forgettable, though, that it made me wonder why they didn't just hold Kissing Families off until they got some better material, as it would have really made Carnavas better, too, to have had this song on it.
