Almost every one of these singles is both a dancefloor classic and eminently listenable on a stand-alone basis. But there's a big problem here: the intros and exits have been unceremoniously chopped off, taking you from 0-60 in a few beats, dumping you off at the hook, hanging around for a minute or two and then speeding off. Phenomenal hooks of course but this is like sex without the foreplay and the cigarette, and if you've previously had the full version you'll be left seriously disappointed. The crescendoing, appetite-whetting lead-ins were one of the defining elements of the original tracks. Go back and listen to the Remedy-version of Samba Magic and see how empty this stripped version is after you've had the full 5 courses. Same goes ... Read More:

I've only recently discovered Basement Jaxx, through a variety of mediums, whether it be from friends, the internet, or even video games. Their music is definitely different -- nothing like anything I've heard before -- which sometimes turns me off to their music, but not this album. This album is full of crazy songs that you can sing along to, dance along to, and even laugh at when the time is right.
I can't really begin to compare this album to other things as it is so different, but I think the closest you can get would maybe be the Benassi Brothers, and even then, you're still straying from what Basement Jaxx really is. Although, it does seem that they do draw some, if not a lot of influence from the hip-hop scene. Just the way ... Read More:

I've always been sort of a casual fan of Basement Jaxx, never buying any of their cds. That changed when I bought this singles collection. Now I own all their cds. It is definately worth paying more to get the bonus disc. On the first disc you get 15 of their hits, including "Where's Your Head At", "Do Your Thing", "U Don't Know Me", "Romeo", "Oh My Gosh" and more. The second disc contains remixes, live tracks, and unreleased tracks. They have a unique style of house music which incorporates funk, salsa and other genres. Definately a great collection that should have a place in every house music fan's collection!

One of this year's biggest albums in the United Kingdom has been Basement Jaxx's "The Singles." For the past six years, they have made crazy house music, drawing from dance, techno, salsa, funk, and many other different genres. They appeal to both the underground and the mainstream and millions dance the night away to their classic choons in clubs every single weekend around the world. The success of the Basement Jaxx is due in part to the crazy sounds, the catchy melodies and the mysterious guest vocalists who sing with such passion over the futuristic beats that Simon Radcliffe and Felix Burton whip up behind the control panel.
This album has done amazingly well in the charts over here in the UK, and I think that is due in part to ... Read More:
