 Rating: - The album that made Al Green a true superstar.Al Green became a bonafide superstar thanks to this all-time classic album. In a way, Al was the natural successor to Otis Redding (both singers had a great many vocal similarities) but Green's smooth and sensous style and romantic crooning enabled him to cut across different established formats much to his benefit. While not as essential as "Call Me" this CD should be in your collection if you like heartfelt and soul-stirring music. Rating:  - GREAT ALBUM BAD REMASTERING JOBThis is one of Al greens best albums he ever did.I used to have the original CD but I decided to get the new remastered version,and boy was I shocked the sound qualitiy is not good at all the highs are very muffled and the songs that fade out are faded out faster. So don,t get this version get the original it only has 2 less songs but the sound is A lot better and it is cheaper. Rating:  - Worth every bit of the hype/ Al Green is the King of 70's soulYep, that's right, I said it and he is! The first of Al Green's three masterpieces, "Let's Stay Together" finally captures Al Green at the peak of his raw yet so seductive extrodinarily elastic whisper of vocal power. His voice really stretches out on tracks like "What Is This Feeling?"(The La-La-La cadence at the break in the center will give you chills) "Judy" and of course the earthshattering "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart." A song he took and completely erased the origin's of.(He even brags about doing this in the liner notes, but hey like he says "It ain't bragging if you did it")The title track is not just a soul classic it is one of the essential landmarks in music history. This is the one for Al Green. A beautiful, smooth, soulful piece with a kickass cover. Very cool. |
