 Rating:  - All around one of their best in PRODUCTION and also in instrumentalsI own four of the six or seven albums that Immortal has released and I have to say that this is a "start to finish" listen amongst them all. Mine came with the bonus DVD which is not of the best quality in sound but still so brilliant in performance. As far as the production and sound quality of this album....Superb. One of my favorite albums to put in and drive to or just to get down with Immortal. A recommended purchase. and a good album to have if you already own it. Rating: - Astounding PoundingHeavy and brutal yet at the same time "catchy" and listenable in its own way. This will be accessible to metal fans who think they don't like black metal. Immortal just plain kicks a$$. This a bone-crushingly intense black metal record that exhibits some finely-crafted tunes. Great production values. Good drum and guitar sound; the vocalist sounds like some evil froglike demon creature. Brilliant stuff. Rating:  - Never was a big fan of 'dark metal' but this is intense and great to listen toI bought this CD after seeing Immortal on YouTube and heard the song "Sons of Northern Darkness" I liked the song enough to buy this CD. I later bought "Damned in Black" they are both good. Fantastic is the fast double bass on Sons of Northern Darkness! Whoa does it get exciting! The music is abrasive though, but fun. I never was very into dark metal but this band Immortal are great. The songs are innovative they have their own style. Of course there are thrash metal influences. But this band does not sound like some predictable dark metal band. No superficial lyrics. A must buy for metal fans and dark metal alike. Rating: - TRULY A MASTERPIECETHIS IS ONE OF MY TOP 5 FAVORITE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. UNBELIEVABLE MUSICIANSHIP AND POWERFUL FROM START TO FINISH. Rating: - A blast of northern brutalityWhat we have here is one the best examples of death metal yet. This album is so full of intensity and good old fashioned power that I almost crapped myself the first time I heard it. It's recorded well, and the vocals are a perfect fit for this style of music. Some black/death metal vocals are just plain horrible, but not here! His voice borders on the comical at times, and is quite unique. I love longer songs that have a variety of tempos in each one. It makes for great listening. This album belongs in every head-bangers collection. These guys are awesome! |
