Editorial Review:
Album Description: Japanese release featuirng a bonus track: 'Makin Me Feel'.
Amazon.com: Mahogany Soul perfectly describes the rich, deep, and lived-in music Angie Stone makes. This veteran singer/songwriter, who was one-third of rap trio Sequence, led acid-jazz combo Vertical Hold, and had a major hand in creating D'Angelo's Brown Sugar, follows up 1999's critically acclaimed Black Diamond with another collection of grown-up R&B that's sexy, satisfying, and smart. Along with (wo)manning the helm herself, Stone links up with like-minded visionaries. Chief among them are Raphael Saadiq, who produced the single "Brotha," which moves with a purposeful, rugged, old-soul swagger, and Andrea Martin, coproducer with Swizz Beatz on the vibrant and aching "Wish I Didn't Miss You," which features a dope "Backstabbers" loop and Stone's husky vocals. At 17 cuts, there's a bit of drag, but not enough to deter you from Stone's wise and determined ease, and on the gritty "Twenty Dollars," Stone gives all those R&B princesses something to really chew on. --Amy Linden

I ordered this cd in 2003 and after listening to it again last night (2008) it hasn't lost its power. Sounds are familiar but still sweet.

I have had this CD since 2001 and I still play it everyday. This CD is a classic in my opinion. After six years, this CD still sounds better than most of the garbage on radio. I believe that Angie is criminally underated and she will get her just due someday. She is on her way to becoming legendary like the Gladys, Chaka's, Aretha's of the world. The only person that can hold a candle to Angie is Jill Scott who I really love too.

Still sounds good in 2007 and that is what makes a good cd. I do not like all the songs on this cd, example Bottles And Cans is a crap track but because of songs like, The Ingredients Of Love, Pissed Off, More Than a Woman, Mad Issues and 20 Dollars I just had to gave it five stars.
If you are looking for more good music, check out Chrisette Michele's...I Am..and Lina's...The Inner Beauty Movement.

It is nice to have a CD you can pop in and enjoy every track. This is one such CD. I really enjoy her music. The vocals are strong, the lyrics are wonderful, and the melodies keeps me going.

Again, Angie Stone remains A Rock. Music for when you're happy, sad, horny, stressed, angry, PMSin. Music for woman, man and everything in between. Angie Stone is the master of her own soulful world. The man who gave this CD to me has no idea how abolutely addicted I am to Mahogany Soul. Fabulous, just fabulous.
