Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Laced with a hint of the sacred, Cee-Lo's impassioned, nasal singing and rigorous raps have made the founding member of Goodie Mob and Dungeon Family one of hip-hop's most dynamic vocalists. His freewheeling approach to music blends hip-hop, gospel, rock, and soul on his solo debut, which finds the wordsmith preaching messages that are both inspirational and straight-up funky. Check out the sanctified bounce of "Closet Freak," which, like many of the songs here, embraces the spirit as well as the streets and finds redemption in the rhythm. Infused with a joyous, musically expansive vision, Cee-Lo creates Southern-fried hip-hop/soul that boldly colors outside the lines. --Amy Linden

This is perhaps one of the best albums I have ever heard. From song to song, I was left waiting for when he would let up, only to find another great track. He simply never lets up the entire album.
Every rhyme, twist of phrase, clever hook, or crazy idea is something that shows he is head and shoulders above most of his fellow MCs. And he can sing, too!
It's just plain funky. In all honesty, I don't think he's received the type of credit he deserves for this album. Perfect Imperfections is essentially a solo artist's version of what Outkast did with Stankonia and Speakerboxxx, and possibly superior. It's just as creative, and fuses several musical genres flawlessly.

I'm a little late on picking this up, I know. I've always been aware of Cee-lo, but never got around to listening to his stuff. Then, of course, Gnarls Barkley breaks onto the scene; and I finally decided, "I should take a peek at his earlier stuff..."
Man, I'm so glad I did!!! This is some good stuff right here. It actually makes his Gnarls Barkley project seem inferior.
While he sounds like an angry little dwarf when rapping, his lyrics and flow more than make up for his cave dweller rapping voice.
His singing voice... OH MAN!!! This guy is so soulful!!! I've read some crap that he doesn't have very much flexibility as a singer... BULLCRAP! His singing his so soulful and so pleasant.

This cd is quite frankly one of the best cd's I've ever listened to. Its the perfect cd to pop in if you want a break from the overused ideals of mainstream rap.
