The album starts off with the edgy title track Eskimo Beach Boy and literally makes you think this is going to be one full on album. It then kicks in to the band's first single, Ballad of Greedy Man, which has confused even the most ardent fans of the band. A strangely provocative number with a North Side Dublin fuzzy lo-fi riff you just won't be able to get out of your head. And it just keeps on getting better as you go... The album is absolutely diverse, hitting every emotion imaginable. It prompted one of the very first listners to call it "an album you could fall in love to - it has it all: love songs, hate songs, songs for breaking up, songs for getting back together, passion, humour, soul, and even an ode to the other side in Car Crash... Check this out now. It is an important release. It isn't available in America until the summer of 2000 unless you're one of the lucky ones to pick it up during one of their shows during their East Coast tour in May and June with label mates NINA HYNES.  Rating: - Absolutely AmazingI just thought the songs on the album were amazing. Some of the best written songs with deep/dark/bright introspective lyrics and melodies. Seriously, this is REALLY GOOD. I think people are going to hear alot more from these guys. ... Very powerful live. The album amazingly captures this too, which is unusual for a first record. Definitely worth the money...... |
