Release Date: 08/30/2005 Amazon.com: Andrew Divoff returns as the evil Djinn bent on world domination in this direct-to-video sequel to Wishmaster. Released from his prison gem during a failed museum robbery, Djinn transforms from a gooey blob to a demon in human form after granting his first venom-laced wish and takes the rap for the heist and a couple of murders. Meanwhile Morgana (Holly Fields, looking like a B-movie version of Angelina Jolie, without the lips) is haunted by nightmares of the demon and discovers the meaning behind his command, "Fulfill the prophecy": he needs to bag 1,000 souls and then he's Armageddon bound. Like its predecessor, Wishmaster 2 twists the classic genie-in-the-lamp legend into a sick joke; every wish is granted in the most literal terms, leaving the recipients victims of their own greed and desire in often gory spectacles. The budgetary constraints are evident in the more ambitious effects, notably a calamity of biblical proportions in a Las Vegas casino with computer-animated locusts and unconvincing dismemberments. Divoff makes a low-rent Freddy Krueger, tossing off pale quips with a tight grin and in a raspy, self-important monotone in this A Nightmare on Elm Street knockoff.  Rating:  - Your wish is my command!!This is one of the best horror flicks done in along time. Wes Craven finishes "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series and with a fresh new idea comes out with "WISH MASTER". I would say with no doubt "WISHMASTER" & "WISHMASTER 2" are the best flicks I've seen from WES CRAVEN. I haven't seen PART 3 & 4, but I'm going too. I rate these movies a 9 from 1to10!! Rating: - WishmasterI really liked the movie "Wishmaster" I had looked all over for the for the first one which in my opinion is the best one. It is very scary and lots of blood. Remember the orginal Wishmaster is the best out of all 4. Its not for little kids. Rating:  - You've seen better, but you've seen much worse, tooEvery aspect of these two films- script, direction, special effects, sets, acting, etc.- runs the gamut from very good to ludicrously bad. For example, a truly scary, well-conceived special effect will shortly be followed by a cheesy, bargain-basement effect; a nice bit of acting will be followed by cornball, over-the-top acting, etc. But, overall, you get two perfectly watchable horror movies that benefit from a pretty good concept: that the original, horrifying legend of the genie had over the years been replaced by a watered-down Disney-fied version, which ill prepares our movie heroes when they're confronted by the original, murderous concept of the legend when he's unwittingly released from its netherworld. This is nowhere near a horror movie at all. If your looking for some horror or anything that can make your skin crawl in the slightest. Then this is not your movie. The story is a demon is trapped inside of a jewel. When he's released he has to gather enough souls to rule the earth. He gains these souls by granting one wish for anyone who passes by. Then the one who set him loose gets three. Wishmaster 1 is the best by far. The wishes are insane and are pretty funny. Thats the problem with this movie trying to pass as horror. If its funny then its not horror. The demon is ugly but not scary at all. It does have some minimal gore. ... The movie was full of top rate horror actors like Kane Hodder and Robert Englund. Has Englund ever made a bad movie? Anyways, I have yet to watch part 2 but part 1 was excellent. Lots of gore and a good story line. Highly recommended. |
