Amazon.com: Look who became a star. Barbie comes to life in this computer-animated Christmas tale that quite naturally takes the longtime favorite doll into a new realm. The plot is a slight variation on the traditional ballet based on Tchaikovsky's music. Instead of being in an open-ended dream, Barbie and her escort, the Nutcracker (soon to be Ken, natch), are on an adventurous quest. Along the way there are more creatures and derring-do than in the original. The sole known voice talent, Tim Curry, has a good old time as the Mouse King, and the animated dancing is gracefully adapted from New York City Ballet choreography. A few clever characters, bright animation, and wonderful music should entrance any Barbie fans ages 3 to 9.  Rating:  - Barbie Rules!I absolutely love all of Barbie's movies. I got this movie when I was 10, now I'm 19 and I still love it! In fact I love it so much I have since collected all 13 Barbie movies and am waiting for Barbie in a Christmas Carol. Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper is by far my fave! ^_^ You must watch them all! Rating: - Who Knew!My daughter is obsessed with ballet and The Barbie Nutcracker is one of her favorite videos. She can now hear the music on classical radio and identify which part of The Nutcracker it is from. Amazing. I had no idea how good the Barbie videos where. The music is beautiful and they are really wonderful to watch - even for adults. Which is nice when you have to watch them over and over and over.......... Rating: - Barbie in the Nutcracker My daugther love it, this was the only one missing from her collection of Barbie DVD. They are very well made and a lot less violent then other children films. At least those don't give her bad dreams she says. A happy Mother Rating: - Great buy!!My grandaughter litterally wore out the VCR tape of this title! I was thrilled that I found it on DVD at Amazon....she continues to watch it time after time. Rating:  - Good, but...........................I have a son. We've been reading the Nutcracker book and so we watched this on tv. My son got really excited since he knows the story. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. There were enough exciting scenes to keep my son interested. (He wasn't interested in the dancing scenes, though I thought they were beautiful.) Barbie does tend to have a glassy-eyed smile on her face the whole time--she doesn't change expressions enough. But why did I give it two stars? At the end Barbie chooses to stay in the magical land. Staring into the handsome prince's eyes, she says something like, "I thought I wanted to go home, but this feels like home to me." It made me want to vomit! I don't like the message this sends.
