Editorial Review:
Album Description: The 2000 release Time After Time is a collection of 12 previously unreleased Eva Cassidy performances, primarily studio recordings, Time After Time also includes four live tracks. This album continues the tradition set by previous Eva Cassidy releases, a mix of traditional favorites such as 'I Wandered by a Brookside' and more contemporary songs like the title track, a remake of the 1984 Cyndi Lauper hit. Blix label.
Amazon.com: Minus all the machinery that the music industry can put behind an artist, Eva Cassidy sang bewitchingly in Washington, D.C. and then died without fanfare in 1996, when she was a mere 33 years old. And then the world began hearing Cassidy, thanks largely to Songbird, a posthumous collection of locally released album tracks that went on to garner media attention, critical praise, and commercial success. This collection gathers both live and studio cuts delivered within warm, mostly acoustic settings; often it is simply Cassidy, her voice, and her guitar. Inside are some of Cassidy's best-executed covers, beginning with Paul Simon's "Kathy's Song" and ending with a stellar rendition of the traditional gospel "Way Beyond the Blue." In between are heart-wringing versions of Bill Withers's "Ain't No Sunshine" and Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time." What distinguishes Cassidy so completely is her offhand ability to transform songs beyond their initial character with a voice that brilliantly mixes an airy floating quality and an edge that you know can pop open to reveal a belt-it-out strength to rival the best in the singer's trade. --Andrew Bartlett

I was introduced to Eva Cassidy's music about 5/6 years ago. As I have read in all the reviews, she has the most amazing voice ever. I tell that to people all the time. She is my alltime favorite and I listen to every kind of music. I so miss the part of never being able to see her live, in concert. What a JOY that would have been. I love all the songs on these two CDS, but my favorites are: Over the Rainbow, Fields of Gold, etc... I am probobly going to purchase the remaining CDs. I just purchased the book, "Songbird." I can't wait to read all about her life.
To family and friends of Eva Cassidy, my heart goes out to you. A beautiful woman and a beautiful voice. I hope the world gets to experience her. I get emotional ... Read More:

Well over a decade after her untimely death in 1996 from metastatic melanoma at age 33, and despite leaving behind her a relatively small body of work, Eva Cassidy is still winning fans. Her voice was one of extraordinary versatility and her style defies categorization: Alternately powerful and intimate, equally at home with folk, blues, jazz or show tunes. From track to track, her voice may be reminiscent of Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, or even Aretha Franklin. But most of all I am reminded of Allison Krause: Although Eva Cassidy's voice is not all that similar to Krause's, it possesses the same almost painful beauty, simplicity, purity and lack of adornment or showiness. The instrumental accompaniment on these tracks, most of ... Read More:

I have always listened attentively whenever a selection by this very talented musican came over the radio; however, it wasn't until I heard Cassidy's redition of Paul Simon's "Kathy's Song" on a folk music station that I finally bought a the CD that included that song. Cassidy's interpretation of a wide range of genres on this CD---from Irish folk ballad to pop to blues---is truly phenomenal and her delivery of all of them is as smooth as silk. That cancer took her young life is truly tragic, but her memory and angelic voice lives on in these beautiful songs.

Wonderful renditions of so many familiar songs. Eva gives them each her special treatment. She has left us but we have the gift of her voice to enjoy. I wish that I had seen her perform. This is a great CD to listen to undisturbed or to have as background music as you relax with friends.
