 Rating: - Some Of My Best Friends Are Old SongsI got to tell ya, I love The Mandrell Sisters; Barbara, Irlene, and Louise. Who have all made it successfully in the music business at one time or another. Irlene for her dumb blonde routines on Hee Haw and the Mandrells show, Barbara for her ultimate and untimely voice, and last but never the least, Louise. I always go for the underedog, or not so viewed artist. And Louise has simply done it in that realm. I still remember each and every song heard on TV and radio.. just as it were yesterday. From "GOODBYE HEARTACHE" to "MAYBE MY BABY" to "RUNAWAY HEART" which Louise has sertainly done with me. Makes me want to shout out "I WANNA SAY YES!!" Yes!! Yes!!, Buy this Anthology cd. You will not be disapointed! Rating: - In the shadow of sister BarbaraBarbara Mandrell is one of my all-time favorite singers, but she is not the only talented singer in her family. Unfortunately for Louise, sisters cannot all be successful unless they form a joint act (like so many, from the Andrews sisters to Shedaisy) or unless they do significantly different music (like Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle, or Allison Moorer and Shelby Lynne). Louise's music was not sufficiently different from Barbara's to allow her to achieve more than a limited amount of success. Many of the songs here were written or co-written by R C Bannon, who sometimes joined Louise on duets. Two of their duets are featured here - Where there's smoke there's fire and Christmas is just a song for us this year. The foot ... Every song on this collection is special! If Louise was riding the charts today, instead of Shania it would be Louise! She has help pave the way for ladies like Shania and others to enjoy success! Fun, foot taping and rememberable! What took so long for someone to see this CD collection was in GREAT need! I only wish all her LP's were on CD to enjoy! Maybe someday! |
