 Rating: - SmoothGreat cd. I saw John Burr in Evanston, IL, with the Alison Brown Quartet. He has a very smooth style that can be a great background in a combo setting, but he has great character in solos. A very smooth style but with a lot of jazz overtones. I particularly liked "Ireland" and "IF I Do Not Return" but also liked "A Christmas Lullaby" and others. A very listenable cd. I'm looking forward to more. Rating: - Better than BrickmanThis is a great CD. We saw John R. Burr perform in a jazz trio in Monterey, CA, and he was awesome. I like Jim Brickman, but I think John R. Burr's music has more character. More of a jazz feel to it. The Christmas Lullaby is my favorite. |
