This cd is an underground classic. Songs like Sublime, In the middle of a dream and Pretty Things rock with an undeniable melodic force. Muse came out of the Miami/South Beach music scene of the mid to late nineties, got signed to Atlantic records, recorded Arcana in L.A., moved to Atlanta and toured with the likes of Collective Soul, Luscious Jackson, Space, Porno for Pyros, Julianna Hatfield, Cracker, Evan Dando, The Cure and Live.
What happened after that is shrouded in Rock & Roll History. What is known is that they lost their drummer to the life of a DJ, fell on hard times and sold the name MUSE to a management company representing a band from ENGLAND...
After getting lost and found, the remaining members (Paul, Ari and ... Read More:

I've had this album since I bought it at one of their little shows in ATL back in 1997.
This is not the UK Muse that is currently on the radio. I accidentally bought one of the crappy British band albums back in 1998 thinking it was these guys. Man was I disappointed.
With that said, I think that the Muse (USA) type of music died a while ago. This album was always one of my favorites in college but I don't know if I'd buy it now.
The lead singer sounds a lot like Jimmy Corgan from the Pumpkins. The music is very spiritual and heartfelt. All in all, a great listen that I'm glad I've owned.

It seems a lot of people here are OFFENDED by the fact that this band (through no fault of their own) has the same name as another (albeit better) band.
This isn't a bad CD. It's a little generic, but the band is pretty solid. Its got enough decent tunes to be worth a $5 pick-up, but not more than that. I actually saw this version of Muse open for Collective Soul about 10 years ago, and they put on a decent show. I even toss the CD in every now and then for a good listen. It's not great by any means, but don't it one star because it's not the band that you thought it was. That's just dumb.

Yeah I'll admit, I accidentally picked this up from a friend thinking it was UK Muse. Obviously I was wrong. Trying to compare the two would just be stupid. Apple's and orange's!
This CD was okay. It falls into a very distinct "college rock" sound of the mid-90's. Nothing really innovative here. I hear subtal infulences of Tripping Daisy, instrumentally I'd relate it to something along the lines of Belly (hot lead singer, stupid "feed the tree's" single circa 94). I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you are nostalgic for your dorm room, coffee house, post grunge college days.

WHOA, this band did not come out AFTER your little MUSE did with an evil plan to be them by taking their name. So don't get all upset because they don't sound like them. It's unfair to give them a horrible review just because you feel bamboozled.
