It's called Martha Argerich Debut Recital. Now, what does this tell you about it? Nothing, that's what. And the title isn't even correct! Actually, there's more material here than appeared on her debut recital, not the least of which is a stunning Liszt Sonata in B minor, which is the major work on the disc. When one of the two or three greatest living pianists turns in a performance of a major work like the Liszt Sonata that has been generally acclaimed, you would think that her record company would somehow get that piece of news into the title of the recording. --David Hurwitz Customer Reviews

 Rating:  - Pure VirtuousityWith Argerich you simply cannot go wrong in the world of piano. There is so much passion, near recklessness and sheer power to rival even Liszt himself. The Scherzo is so clean and maintains an unmatched pace throughout - yet be not deceived as some uncredibly sweet moments will catch you unaware. The Toccata is truly devilish and one cannot comprehend how a human could reach such a tempo and yet hit all the required notes!! The Jeux d'eau makes one wonder who might posesse all these pianistic abilities; from dreamy images to listless moments where languor is at hand, from the most fluid and yes, watery splashes to crystal clear melodies! Her awesome talent for the piano and her in depth understanding of the music she chooses to perform represents an artist who is interested in the music and not giving us yet another showy example of "greatest hits."
